Just thought I'd lobby the group before dealing with Toyota regarding warranty --- I have an 02 GTS with 29K...lately, been hearing a dull "CLUNK" on the front right, but ONLY when accelerating or deccelerating sharply. I don't think it's suspension related, as the car corners well and rides very smooth and quiet over bumps. If I go through the gears smoothly - nothing. But if I'm in 3rd for instance, and punch it a little bit, I get the CLUNK. Could it be motor mounts maybe? Any speculation or ideas will help my overall education for when I take it to the dealer...WTF?

Hey your from CT...then I'll fill you in with some Toyota warranty issues I have had with are local Toyota dealers (just incase thats the route you'll need to go). I thought I had some problems with my syncros, so I call the dealer to make sure that my car was still under factory warranty, they were not sure because the warrenty depends on the problem of the vehical,in other words lets see what the problem is first then will tell you if it's coverd. They said that I'll have to first bring it in for a dianostic($80 for a test drive), then pay for labor in order to physicaly check the problem. Once they get to the problem they will determine wether the problem was caused by the drivers driving habits or if it's a legit problem...it sounded to shady for me...so just be carfull dealing with are local dealers...It was Toyota of Wallingford .

I'm having my regular mechanic do my 30k checkup, so I'll eventually have him diagnose the clunk while he's at it. Then when I bring it to Hoffman Toyo (Avon), I'll know exactly what the fuck I'm talking about and they won't dick w/ me! Toyo of Wallingford? I dealt with them when looking for my 02GTS, and their sticker prices are wicked high!! WTF?

I use http://www.bobbyrahal.com they treated well so far with warranty issues. I had a slight pull and they checked alignment and that was not the issue, so they replaced all four tires with no cost to me. They even gave me a rental 2005 Corolla at no cost.
