I am posting this also in the 5th gen section but since not many people look there I thought maybe you guys could give me some help here too... I currently have a 1990 Celica GT liftback with the 2.2L 130 hp I4, and I am really looking to get some more power out of it. would you suggest the 2.0L 200 hp I4 that comes in the 1990 all-trac turbos? or something else? also, how difficult of a swap will this be (with whatever engine you suggest)? is it pretty much drop and go or is there a greater amount of modifications that will be necessary? any thoughts/information you can give me would be most appreciated.

dude... this topic has been covered an infinite amount of times. the 2.0L 200hp I4 you're talking about is called a "3SGTE" It comes in MR-2 Turbos also. The swap itself from what i heard is not hard until you get to re-wiring. IT IS NOT A DROP AND GO. GO TO THIS WEBSITE: www.celica.net [celica.net] and go to the forums. There is a forced induction forum there... READ UP.

The swap is not hard if you have a good knowledge of cars. One of the easiest engine swaps out there, if you have any questions just ask, I did the swap myself.

yep what they said the st185 will just slide in ontop of the existing motor mounts. not to much rewiring. you will need to get a new tranny.. but other than that you should be fine.

vtec really does suck!.
