i am looking into getting the xs turbo for my gts after i sell my truck on friday and i know its cool to about 6psi on stock internals but to boost the turbo to a street friendly psi what is a good psi for street and what compression should i make the engine for that psi? thanks in advance

its supposed to be 8:8:1 right?

the 2ZZ in the GTS is 11.5:1 compression.

The default boost levels on the kit should be streetable.

get C2gas...there have been many complaints with xs...some people have been waiting 10 months to get theirs. c2gas will get it to you in 7 days...plus i hear their customer service is excellent!

compression ratio has a lot of factors not just because you get turbo you need to change them. However, for higher boost it is a must, but why open up an engine and just put pistons, just get familiar with having turbo; then spend an extra 1200- 2000 to build the whole engine.

thats what i was thinking but after i get used to the turbo i definately want to up the boost but i know a low psi is streetable on the factory setup but is 8:8:1 a good boosting ratio to change it to?

6 psi on GTS i more than enough... any higher will break the tranny anyway.
if you really want more, then yes, 8.8:1 pistons are the way to go

I think if you're going to reinforce the internals you should go with 9:1, 8.8:1 or 8.5:1 are usually stock boost compressions for turbo cars and since most of them upgrade to a 9:1 compression, it's probably better to go straight for the 9:1. It may seem a little high, but the compression well give you better overall performance for street use. Not too sure on the boost settings but I wouldn't boost any more then maybe 18-22psi at most for racing at the track, and maybe 12-15psi for the street.

yea get the C2 turbo not XS

XS still has problems with cracking manifolds even after they upgraded to the new cast iron ones that werent supposed to crack. What does that tell you about the quality of their kits. On top of that, their customer service is bad. They ignore their customers with problems. On top of that, people have been waiting almost a year since time of order to get their kits. Also if you want to run higher boost you need to do a lot more than just get low comp pistons. Beefing up the entire engine wouldnt be a bad idea and you would definately need a new tranny.

even in an automatic tranny?

If you're planing to boost you may also want to upgrade your fuel system, w/ a bigger pump and injectors. Maybe upgrading the ignition system somehow would be good too, but there's not much to do there since our cars use coil packs, so there's no distributor or wires to upgrade, maybe one of those ignition amplifiers would work.

injectors aren't a necessity (but a good idea) for the c2 kit. c2's customer service is amazing. i've been working out some stuff with Gas and his crew for the past few days. they're doing everything possible to accomodate my situation, a definate go.

does anyone have a direct link to post for c2 so i could look at their item because right now i really like xs's setup with the apexi power fc and the ball bearing turbo if c2 gas is anything like that then maybe i will go with them-i was wondering how to upgrade our ignition and whether i should replace the ngk plugs with zex plugs since i will be using zex n20 and who makes a good ignition amplifier?

if you want good plugs, i hear denso's are the best. c2's website is www.c2power.com [c2power.com] . they use a Garret t28 in their kits, which is good for overall power and I4 apps. as far as ECU goes, they use the Greddy E-manage piggy-back unit with pretuned maps.

^^^ Yes they seem to be the best as far a turbo goes for the Celica. Can't wait to i get it in my car

XS and stafford Customer Service sucks. C2Gas is the only way to go. Check out the "other site" to lean a lot about them.

i was under the impression that piggybacks didnt work well on our cars is that true or will that greddy work on an 02 gts automatic

yea i am right next to wilmerding i could walk there-i'm not sure but i thought i saw a silver celica like yours in churchill one time in the summer it was probably you since there arnt too many modded celicas where we live-apollo is a long way from apollo

XS blows. if you're gonna up the boost you'll want to upgrade your oil pump along with everything else. the stock one is a definite weak point of the engine.

i have heard our radiator and oil pump are the weakest points of the engine and as far as xs i dont think that is the right system for me with my automatic since it has the power fc-ive been looking at that c2 turbo kit it puts out better numbers and i have heard a lot of good things about c2 and its also cheaper if my truck sells soon then i think i'll be runnin a turbo celly soon---a 40 minute drive i guess thats not so bad anyway do you meet up with other celica drivers sometimes if you do let me know i'll try and come out

where can you get these c2gas turbos installed (CA)

I know where you can get SF kits installed in CA depending where you're at in socal you're prolly not more then an hour or 2 from someone who could do it for ya

^^^ Yeah that is if you have 8 months to wait after ordering your Turbo, numerous e-mails trying to get in touch with Mike, and when you finally get the turbo crossing your fingers hoping that all the parts are there

from c2 gas it takes 8 months to get the turbo? damn that is a long time for all the money being spent it should be there in a week-that sucks i will need to get mine installed around pittsburgh i am sure that will be a challenge i tried calling around for someone to install pulleys for me and non one wants to even do that

^^^ No No that is Stafford kits that take forever. C2Gas is about 1 month from time of order for the GTS and i beleive he has the GT kits in stock so it is just shipping time for them

C2 takes 8 days, that is the timeframe when the kit shipped from hungary to cali. 8 months is SF turbos.

cool i am gonna go with the stage 1 c2 kitbthen i hope i like it--the search button is not my friend i search for c2 turbo and it brings totally irrelavent stuff up but so far all i have heard is good so im gonna do it i think i will try to research al little more in the meantime

thats not bad when i had my cavvy it took 2 months just to get my body kit so i can wait a month for a turbo i hope this all works out for me-having a turbo is like mty dream

I dont work for stafford nor have I ordered one so I dunno how long it's taking.

I like the sf kits so to me it's the one I would get personally.

but at the same time either is infinitely better then the xs kit

i used to want xs but now am going with c2gas and when stage 2 comes around i will go 8:8:1 compression with 15psi

you know stage 2 is simply stage 1 + internals. If stage 2 isnt available then buy the internals someplace else and just get stage 1. then you'll actually have stage 2

I think it is even cheaper to just buy the stage one and then talk to MWR here in the states for the internals. Someone correct me if i am wrong?

i like cheaper so i would do that but internals are like another 3 grand so that would be very far in the future if i did that after the tubo i am going with that koya radiator and i will try to find a performance oil pump since those are the 2 weakest points of our engines i wanna get them fixed and better

Yes you are right and for US costumers we just help how to upgrade as we also import the internals from the US. It is basically for he EU contries who can get the internals cheaper form us. It would be stupid to buy them from us if yu live in the US. I suggest MWR for the st2 parts.
