OK i know the gt300 widebody kit costs around 3 grand, but how much does it cost for the bodywork? An acquaintance of mine that just installed his said he spent an extra four grand to put it on. Is this reasonable?

yes that is reasonable..like the other person said you will need wider rims, paint the entire car, etc. etc.

yes, like what spatzkid and celicaprincess stated. love the kit myself but realized it's extremely expensive (unless you are sponsored, of course). you pay for the kit, paint, install, wheels, suspension. so, you're looking at least $10,000 just for show. add the "go" and you have about another $5-10 grand depending on the mods (from simple bolt-ons to turbo or s/c-"supercharge").

why would you have to paint the entire car???

because that body kit is huge and molds in to the car ... so since your getting that body kit for show ... you want the paint to match 100% in color so you get the whole car painted. Usually you would go with a custom color too.

I guess you wouldn't have to paint the hood, doors and roof ... but that's about it.

yeah, but the point of this type of kit is to see it up close. works of art are ususally closely examined. and, since this is a "show" kit you need all the points you can get to beat the competitors.

thats true,so for like 10 grand you can build up your celica to make it look like the gt300?? so if you go to car shows you can probably win back most of your money right? and get sponserships

Well, by the time you have all that money invested, you're going to have everything possible done to it and the sponsor wouldn't have to throw any money onto you since there's not much left to do.
