I looked at both the pros and cons of getting a GTS and the cons were greater.

Pros:

-more fun to drive (lift, etc.)
-more respect (not that it really matters that much)
-new car to start modding all over again (do mods that I wish I could do on my GT)

Cons:

-owe 11k on my GT, not willing to go through trouble to try and sell
-will be hard to convince dad (cosigner) to let me get a gts instead
-most likely higher monthly payment
-higher insurance
-trying to find a good price for a GTS with decent miles (found a couple at some dealers for 12k with low miles though)

I'm a college student so the main thing is having my payments go higher. What do you guys think? Would you still try and get a GTS?

I'm really indecisive, and I want a GTS bad, but I keep thinking about the cons and it gets me thinking that I should not get one. frown

I would stick with the GT. The reason why I was able to get a GTS was because I saved enough so that I do not have to worry about monthly payments. And also, my GT was an Auto, and the GTS is a 6 Speed. I would say stick with the GT you got and just get more toys for it.

As long as it is a Celica, everything is all good thumbsup

So how was the change for you going from a gt to a gts? Was it really that much better?

If i were in your shoes, i would just keep the GT because you're going to want the next better car in a couple to a few years anyway.

Remember, there will always be a better looking faster car out there so learn to be happy with what you have.

So how was the change for you going from a gt to a gts? Was it really that much better?

For me it was totally different since the GTS is my first stick shift car. My GT was an Auto like stated above. But the real reason why I had to purchase a GTS was more of a personal issue regarding the ownership of the GT. But I would stick with the GT.

if you really want a GTS... just keep lookin for one... no one says you have to get it RIGHT NOW.. just wait till the right deal comes along...

another thing... i know some may frown upon buying a wrecked GTS... but it's what i did... you should look into it.. i lucked out MAJORLY on mine though... it was barely wrecked (the hood wasn't even dented), had very low miles, and i got it dirt cheap... someone upstairs was lookin out for me that day i tell ya

My lease just came up, I chose to keep the GT - for a few reasons

1 - the GTS is only faster past 6000 RMP
2 - the 6 speed means more shifting, and in traffic that starts to piss me off
3 - I can keep my GT for another year, and will be able to sell it for the same price, or close to it, in other words, most of the depreciation is done.
4 - I already have door dings, and stone chips - I don't want to live through the slow and painfull downfall of a paintjob...
5 - now that the celica is no longer going to be made after this year, perhaps the resale value will go up do to lack of supply, I know this happened to preludes..

bro if you're in traffic, and you get above 4th ur driving too fast anyway...the 6th gear only comes in handy if you are driving on the freeway at speeds in excess of 70 mph...just saying is all
