I saw one at Best Buy last time I was in there. I don't believe it's anything special for a Celica. All the Toyota's should be the same, since 1987 or something like that.

there is no simple way of hooking up a harness, the ones sold in stereo shops dont work. If I remember right it's the Alpine head unit of his, you have to hardwire it into the system, which really isn't a big deal if you do it right. When cutting apart the stock harness only cut off what you dont need, and leave enough slack to reconnect it if you ever sell your car. For hooking the basslink up, reguardless of weather is a powered or unpowered you need to run a rca cable to wherever the sub will be placed, I'm assuming the trunk. This will just come out of the back of the headunit and run under the carpet is what I did for the best noise rejection. I think about 12ft. gets it done. If you can I'd get TimO to help you out

^^^ Me too! I got a basic wiring harness for Toyota vehicles, and the wires were color coded the same as my new headunit. I just had to match up the colors, splice the wires together, and plug it in.

well i do have a wiring harness from circuit city...i guess it would work if we just splice the stock connecter into the end of the wiring harness? since one end does not fit...tim hardwired his, i dont mind doin it, i just thought there was an easier way.

the plug won't fit, you'll have to find the wiring diagram and splice wires to work. don't connect them based on the color of the wires. they're not the same, you'll be blowing fuses like crazy if not your ecu. and don't forget to take out the JBL amp as well, and detach the harness... read sickcelica696 suggestion, he is dead on...

oh and upgrade your speakers too, the stock JBL won't hold the aftermarket headunit for very long if you crank it up...

i would be getting other speakers a while from now, tim0 had stock speakers in his and it was fine..im not gonna be crankin it up really hard and once they go...then that means i HAVE to get new ones anyway, i know the plug doesnt fit into the radio's harness...so that means i have to splice the radio harness wires into the end of the wiring harness correct? and the other end of the wiring harness fits into the thing for the head unit. and take out the jbl amp? do i have to take it out? or can i just disconnect it?

ok yea, i think thats what we have to do... splice the factory harness wires into the wiring harness...then the other end of the wiring harness connected to another harness that connects right to the head unit, then from there, he knows what to do... so is this right?

are you getting an amp? if not, i would directly connect it from the HU to the speakers. and yes, you can splice the factory wires and tight-in with the wiring plug that came with the HU...

theres a harness you can get that uses the factory amp and everything and it just plugs into the factory harness to the new head unit. i have it installed on my celica with jbl upgrade and it works great! its a lexus harness but it was installed at the shop so i dont know what model or anything..but check it out if you go to circuit city and ask them if what year lexus will fit the celica! sorry for half info!

So...in the end, just disconnect the HU and remove the harness, then splice into it,you don't have to deal with the factory amp at all if you dont want to

I had this same problem in my GTS...i have an alpine head unit...
I am not an audio guru...and to be honest i was worried about fudging the whole thing up if i bypassed my stock amp myself...especially with the 8-speaker component audio system which is definitely more tricky than say 4 2 or 3 way speakers which is cake...so here's what i did...
I bought a wiring harness from cardomain.com...search for wiring harnesses...it's the only one for a celica GTS...8-speaker yadda yadda (~$25 shipped). It comes with a scosche amp interface so you don't need to buy one of those...then you just connect all the corresponding power and control lines from the one you bought to the one from your aftermarket head unit...the speaker wires go from the harness you bought into the amp interface...and the speaker wires from your head unit go into the other side of the amp interface...then you just plug the harness you bought into the stock harness in your celi...and the head unit's harness into the head unit...and there you go. For your sub you just plug that into the sub pre-out in the back of your head unit.
If you want a cracking the pavement system this won't be the way to go for you...since the factory amp has limits...but i can turn it up much louder than what my ears can physically stand...but my stock speakers just blare then. In my opinion it's not worth it to get all tricky unless you want to compete with your system or something. If you have any questions PM me.
