just wondering after i put on an exhaust, what else can i do to improve power other than turbo? i was thinking pulleys/cams but i heard from people on this site that it makes the celica run bad. if there isn't, then another question for the turbo owners, what should i upgrade before purchasing a turbo? or for anybody that knows...i wont be putting on parts bc its snowing, but next year, i'll have a beast!!! post some of your ideas that you did or suggest i do..thanks guys!!!

well you can put on an intake, headers, run some hotter spark plugs, Apexi PFC, if you have a manual short shifter, or N2O.

i have a manual and i got a CAI already. i dont want to get headers bc it comes with the turbo kit. i want to avoid anything that will come with a turbo kit you know what im saying?? that way if i get to a point where i cant do any more mods i'll get a turbo. dont want to pay for something ill end up buying again later on. i know i got a CAI and a turbo comes with one, but mine was cheap so i dont care! lol..i just want to run a turbo safely and not worry about it blowing my engine..hey what do you guys think of the new Blitz s/c???

too expensive and not cost effective. sitck w/ the turbo. you are going to want to get a turbo timer and a boost controller when you get ur turbo installed. these will prolong the life of the turbo .

umm if they dont come with the turbo which i doubt, you are gonna need bigger fuel injectors. but other than that, there really isnt a whole lot, turbo is gonna replace a lot of parts. maybe some better rods and pistons, lightened flywheel, you are definately going to need a stronger clutch.

That is unless you can't control the urge to turn the screw on that boost controller (or button if you're high-tech )...then a boost controller will be the first thing to kill your engine

It depends on what stage of turbo you go with to decide if you need internals.. Might as well just throw out getting better cams as noone makes them.
There really isn't much to do to the engine unless you want to drop some serious coin

no one makes cams yet for our cars--koyo radiator will be good for cooling the engine by 30% and a hyper grounding kit might give you some more torque and help your electrical work better-aem racing alternator pulley and unorthadox water pump puleey but do not get the crank pulley as it causes problems on our cars the other 2 pulley should be good for around 5hp-i know what you are saying about not wanting to replace parts down the line if you already bought them-thats what i was gonna do but i dont have the money right now to spend 5000 on a turbo setup so i am gonna go zex wet n20 55 shot-

if i was you and i had money right now for the turbo i would get it then upgrade from there if you wont have the money for a while then i would say to start get na perfomance stuff and then replace when you can get the turbo and sell the parts like headers even though i heard they only give like 3 hp and exhaust there are too many out there so you would have to pick but when you get the turbo you will nedd a 3 inch exhauust

stick with turbo if you want the power. nobody makes cams yet, and N/A mods still suck for us.
IMO you should be able to run 9lbs daily on stock internals. if you get the right kit and the right tuning that's good for at least 260 whp. more then plenty for most people.

what i meant when i said i didnt want to replace parts down the line was if i bought a header i'd have to get rid of it once i get the turbo..i want to build up my car to the point of putting on a turbo, with everything possible done to the engine that doesnt come in the turbo kit..ya know what im saying???

^^ you wont need an intake or header. about the only thing you can get would be ..(to benefit N/A and still be used on turbo) 1) new oil pump 2) exhaust 3) better valves/springs 4) PnP 5) PFC (00-02 models) even with this your tuning will need to be redone one you get turbo. Other then that everything else will over lap. it's best to pick a route and go directly, trying to do both at once will waste money. better to stay stock while your gatherong all your parts and then one day have a bad ass motor. you will save a lot of $$ and trouble. actaully i have heard a lot of problem from people running more than 7psi on stock intrnals hmmm must be poor kits or bad tuning. done properly it will hold IMO. I also can't recall anyone having promblems with boosting over 7 on stock internals. got any links?

Get the new 3ZZGE engine setup from Trial Japan. you gain 220hp. Trial supercharger celica gts has the 3ZZGE engine setup with a supercharger, 1ZZFE crankcase, custom made connecting rods, and GTS compression piston that produced 283hp. also it's one of the fastest FF drive car at the Tsukuba race circuit that did a 1:08 secs lap. check out http://www.trial.co.jp/trial-usa/

Hey , not to change the subject but, would it be possible to get 13:1 comp. pistons, forged rods, intake, header, exhaust, pnp, pfc, and a 100 shot of nitrous tuned with the NX maximizer, or would it be to much? Should be good for 300hp+ right?

Oil cooler man. The cooler your engine runs, the better. Oil cooler will help, and swapping in a cooler thermostat will help too. If you have an auto tranny, a tranny fluid cooler would help out a lot (cooler tranny fluid makes for firmer shifts and longer lifespan)
Ground wires will help with throttle response. be sure to ground on every bolt that holds down those ignition coils on your valve cover too, since aluminum isn't the best conductor in the world.
Shave some weight to improve the power to weight ratio.
13:1 pistons would be great, no ECU upgrade required; you'd need to run racing fuel to prevent detonation though.
Of course, one mod that nobody around here ever considers is knife-edging and balancing the crank. it removes weight from the rotating assembly, which will reduce weight, and also reduce torque a little, but it will let the engine rev a lot quicker, and help your top-end.
Since you say you run a manual, a short shifter, LSD and better clutch will show some marked improvement. getting the power to the ground more efficiently makes a big difference.
