Okay, it's not really a mod; it's just new floor mats. But they're not just any floor mats. I can't see paying $80 for the OEM floor mats, especially when all I really need is the driver's side, but they don't sell them individually. I've shopped for floor mats at Wal-Mart and Autozone, but didn't find any I liked. It's hard to find ones that fit right and don't slide around. I thought about diamond-plate floormats, but I'm not sure if I'd like them, and don't really want to spend $100 or more for them. Part of the problem with most floormats, is that the nubs on the back are too small to really grip the carpet. However, chairmats have longer, sharper spikes that do a pretty good job gripping the carpet.

The smallest, cheapest chairmat ($15) is just the right size for the front two floor mats.

I traced the outline and cut them out with a razor blade. It's pretty thick plastic, so it might be easier with a hacksaw.

O damn, that is smart. I bought some TRD knock offs from Ebay. It looks cool but the driver side is a bit off because of the little clip. so I am not using it.

Spikes down; that's what keeps them from moving. Spikes up would HURT if you ever drive barefoot or in socks.

only thing about that rubber is that water is going to run off the matte onto the surrounding carpet. id rather have the mattes get dirty that can be easily replaced then the carpet that cant.

Yo that's pretty unique, although it wouldn't hold water in like the rubber mats you get for winter. But I noticed you have that hole where you heel sit for your clutch, I've got the same thing! grin

good temporary solution for the winter... just make sure to wipe them off occasionally so that the excess doesn't spill over the sides and onto the carpet

i love your creativity.

but the only downside it that you'll have to clean the plastics because they will end up getting stained a yellow-brownish color. frown
