When installing the Autotechnic S7 gauges, do I need to remove the stock gauges or just lay the new ones over it??

Hey, I just got my gauges in and they ain't gonna work, because they don't have the lil M mode thingy (for the auto/man GTS) What do ya'll think would happen if I was to cut out a space for that?? I doubt it'd work, if anyone would like to buy it though let me know. Also I'm gonna put some pics of it up here as soon as my camera recharges.

Alrighy, I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for all the help. I'm still tempted to cut it, but I figured giving that up was a small price for how sweet this will look (if I get it done)

http://www.rjautoworks.com/This place has everyhting you want. if you can sodder, you can change ur leds. then use paint thinner to get rid of orange on needles. then with bleu led kit you will ahve waht you want. they have differnt gauges too. only problem is you ahve to be albe to sidder or knwo someone who can to change the leds out.

I changed my leds to blue, it was kinda hard because the leds that I got were like microscopic and I couldn't really hold on to them. But I got it done and it looks cool. If you did decide to do them yourself, be sure and hook it up to your car to make sure they all work before reassembling it. Cuz mine had like 4 that were'nt soldered in good enough, but with a lil more solder, it all worked

I finally got my gauges done, I did it a lil bit different than what ya'll suggested. I ran some wires straight to the battery because I didn't wanna drive back to Autozone. But that posed a problem, being connected directly to the battery meant that it stayed on at all times. And so I just added an on/off switch. I'm happy with it, mainly because I've never done something like this, but thanks to all the info on this wonderous sight, I feel unstoppable. Thanks all and I'll post some pics soon.

nevermind aobut the quesiton. i jsut hooked it all up and works great. was geting needles stuck aroudn 7k rpms. so i rolled up alittle piece of paper and wedged it under the black bezel part. now works great. and didnt do anyhting with the little sawitch thing. jsut tucked it under the dash once i got it the way i like. now you just need blue led conversion. Man they look sweet

pull what up a bit? I tried the whole pressing the gauges between many books to flatten them out before installing. all was good except at about 7k. but i jsut wedged some pwper behind te black pastic bezel part and it presses down the gauges perfectly. I was going to just pull up the needles but didnt want to have to deal with any recalibrations or anyhting if i F'ed it up whiel doing it. Paper pieces worked great Now i just need to decide what to do about the needle color. i am getting led conversion for the gas gauge to blue. debating if keep needles orange, or make them blue too. any suggestions?

I painted my needles blue, but I think I did it wrong. I just used blue spray paint (same stuff I used on my dash) it looks good during the day but at night looks kinda unproffesional.

wow you guys really don't know what you're doing i forgot you didn't take your needles off hombre and slipped the gauges over them, some people do have problems with them hitting at some point... and you have no idea what that button is? it's supposed to dim your gauges or change the color of them, the old ac's had them also... you were supposed to connect the gauge to one of the little connector things...then the box had wires comin out of it for power and ground...the power was supposed to be connected to an illumination wire so when you turn your lights on...the gauges came on, then find a ground a for needles, spray paint? you have to get something that is TRANSPARENT, so transparent paint works best.

well just like a clear type of paint that light can shine through like hooby paint or nail polish even. You could extend the wire to the healight assembly so that it turns on when your parking light or headlights turn on. i suggest with the dimmer switch just leave it at a seeting you like and then hide the switch behind the steering wheel plastics because i dont like those sticker buttons

that's what i did...the dimmer/color thing was hidden cause i set it and left it then i found wires under my dash to power/illuminate/ground it instead of running them all over.
