I just found out that we have a NCCA judge on here (Jamey). He has allowed me to start this topic so we can ask him some questions about car shows.
So I will start with just a few.

1. Is it true we will only be allowed to win five best of shows in one year?

2. Is it true that a display will no longer count for points?

3. How many points will lambo doors get you?

4. With our engine plastics...what is worth the most points...Painted plastics, carbon fiber or chromed plastic? www.chromemyplastic.com [chromemyplastic.com] .

5. I can't afford custom paint this year. Will a roll call get as many points as some of the big lightning bolt stickers I see on some cars?

6. How many more points are 19" wheels compared to 18" wheels. Same brand.

I'll stop there for now. If any of you know the answer, please post it.
If you would like to ask some questions of your own, feel free. He should be here in about an hour. Thanks.

So I will start with just a few.

1. Is it true we will only be allowed to win five best of shows in one year? Yes, after winning your 5th BOS you are already grandfathered to the Finals for the overall Leader at the end of the year.

2. Is it true that a display will no longer count for points? I am not sure about this one as of yet. This has been discussed time and time again and i am not sure what the final outcome will be. What i think will happen is it won't count towards your final score at the show, but there will still be a best display award at selected shows (depending on the Venue/Promoter) and usally there is a cash award/trophy.

3. How many points will lambo doors get you? I can't give you a true total, like oh its 5 points, but you will get points for them more then most exterior MODS.

4. With our engine plastics...what is worth the most points...Painted plastics, carbon fiber or chromed plastic? Basially you have the correct order already from least to most. I have yet to see a celica with a totally chromed out engine (hint, Hint)

5. I can't afford custom paint this year. Will a roll call get as many points as some of the big lightning bolt stickers I see on some cars? Roll calls do not count as any points for vynal. So to answer your questions NO.

6. How many more points are 19" wheels compared to 18" wheels. Same brand. 1 point and possibly another 1 or 2 for originality as 19's are not on many Celicas.

I'll stop there for now. If any of you know the answer, please post it.

Outstanding. Like I said, stop me when you get sick of answering questions. If you don't, I will bug you all night.
Anyway, Here is some more...

1. Will the custom turbo kit I am installing right now be worth more points than a kit from a company?

2. I want to buy a race engine from MWR. Is that worth it as far as points go?

3. Would painting all the parts of my undercarriage be worth the trouble or should I wait and chrome them?

4. Would a rear disc brake conversion on my GT be worth the money?

5. Is there a big difference in points between a Rotora BBK and an AEM kit?

A couple more and I'll leave you alone for now.

1. If I am going for best of show, would it be a waist of money to buy a cheap wheel like Katana instead of saving up for Racing Harts?

2. What is a good way to get sponsored?

3. Was the APR kit I just bought worth the $2,500 compared to the TRD kit I did have?

4. Is having it molded on worth the $3,500 they want to do it. Points wise.

5. Here is the body mods I will have for the 2005 show season...
APR kit molded on, sparco gas lid, TRD wing, BRS hood and shaved door handles. What would you do next to get the most points for body mods besides lambo doors?

2. What is a good way to get sponsored? if you find a good easy way let me know rofl, what i would do is recommend making a propsal and send it to companies saying here is my car and here is wht i could do for you. Also being into the show scene hard and getting reconigition for be a leader in the show scenes will def. help

3. Was the APR kit I just bought worth the $2,500 compared to the TRD kit I did have? Hell yeah a widebody that has to be molded will def. be better then a bolt on kit

4. Is having it molded on worth the $3,500 they want to do it. Points wise. not only for points but for looks bro, also you will be put in the Wild category for being molded

5. Here is the body mods I will have for the 2005 show season...

3. Would painting all the parts of my undercarriage be worth the trouble or should I wait and chrome them? Either or will net you points. I would suggest chroming what you can and then painting the rest to match the theme of your car

4. Would a rear disc brake conversion on my GT be worth the money? Yes it would be worth it

5. Is there a big difference in points between a Rotora BBK and an AEM kit? not a big difference

I have a question.I am in the process of installing air ride on the celi.I sold my sound system so i am running the stock system right now.How will it look to have a molded kit and air ride having the kit sit on the ground..but with a stock stereo? Is the stock stereo going to hurt me a great deal?

Thanks celicaguy, I was afraid I was going to be the only one who liked this topic.
If you don't mind, I would like to try and answer this one and Jamey can just correct me if I'm wrong when he get's here.
About how the Celica would look sitting on the ground, I think it would look okay, but in my opinion, the Celica looks better with more of a sport car stance. I think the low rider look better fits cars like Civics or Cavaliers. The Celica is such a sporty looking car, I would say it would look better at least a couple inches off the ground.

As for your system, they judge that by the quality of the install, the quality of the product and how good it sounds. I think a stock system will score a 0 at a show, but we'll see if Jamey agrees when he get's here. I'm no expert. That's for sure.

Yes. That is something that has been driving me nuts for the past couple years. Trying to figure out what vents would look good or not to do them at all. Can't decide. I have to do something though. I'm not going to win best of show with just an APR kit. NSX vents would look good though.

Well I have a few more questions for Jamey, then I have to run to the mess hall before it closes.

1. How the hell are we supposed to beat Bob Mull? Is there anything that he doesn't max on points?

2. Would a painted Carbon Fiber hood get more points than an unpainted one?

3. There was only 20 of the BRS hoods made, is that worth more points than an average Carbon Fiber hood and should I mention that in my mod list at shows?

4. What do you think about people who bring all their trophies to the show? Should they leave them at home?

5. Were you there the night Zamora beat Laub at HIN Dallas? If so, did you agree with that?

Couple more, than I'll stop for the night.

1. Is there any way you could post a copy of the score card for 2005 on here?

2. Of all the Celicas you have seen, which one do you think would be the hardest to beat at a show?

Would it be this guy...

definitely mention it to the judge(s) - often times the judge is not an expert on celicas and all products.

Unless Jamey judges your ride rofl

Anyway, NCCA judges typically ask the car owner "what can you tell me about the car?" - tell everything you want them to take notice of thumbsup

I got one, will a normally basic body kit like Vielside FFGT for example, be worth more points or the same if it was flared or widebody??

You will just get a Zero in that category. Do you have any ice?? If not then you would get a 0 out of a possible 15 points for stero/ICe/installation

Very True as there is a Celica (owner name is Pete) that has a crazy celica with the same kit/turbo/VDC/totolly guted/fiberglass interor etc. To win Best of Show you have to be commited to the scene and build a total show car thumbsup

I am not going to touch this one yet as i don't know how the NCCA is going to handle this situation right now... Will let you know shortly, but i can say this is what the whole only 5 BOS then being grandfathered comes into play

2. Would a painted Carbon Fiber hood get more points than an unpainted one? i give a point or 2 more for a painted Carbon Fiber hood

3. There was only 20 of the BRS hoods made, is that worth more points than an average Carbon Fiber hood and should I mention that in my mod list at shows? As Rusell (sp) stated yes metion that to us

4. What do you think about people who bring all their trophies to the show? Should they leave them at home? you don't get points for them, but they do look nice as a display

5. Were you there the night Zamora beat Laub at HIN Dallas? If so, did you agree with that? No wasn't there, and from the sounds of it Jay's car was really dirty, so if that was the case then yes. Now the whole dent and or factory indent i am not touching rofl

Not sure exactly what you mean. Are you asking if a Veilside bolt on kit nets the smae points as a widebody kit??

Or are you asking if you have a veilside kit and then you custom mold/flare/make a widebody out of it will it be worth more. Please advise

Thank you very much.

you do know that any show you can ask the judge that judged your car for some tips/pointers of what you could do to place better or where you lost points etc. When they are done judging your car ask them if they will give you some tips. This won't happen till all the Cars have been judged but they should and will come back to you and let you know. I know at any given show i am back talking to 5 or 6 competitors giving them some advise thumbsup

Couple more...

1. The reason I asked about bringing trophies to the show is because I am very proud of my trophies and I put a picture of them and a list of what they are. I have only been to 8 shows and I have 10 1st place trophies.

I always wonder what a judge thinks when he sees that I don't have any 2nd place trophies. Does he think "Man, I bet this guy thinks he's the shit because he has never been beat, I think I'll put him in his place and give him his first 2nd place trophy"?
Or does he realize that I am just proud of my trophies and want to show them off?

Yes, I do ask them for tips. I usually get 1 or 2 from them and they seem to want to get away. I can be a pretty big pest. As you can see with the thousand questions I am asking you now.

I just wish more people would come on here and say that they are enjoying this thread, so I know I'm not waisting your time just for myself.
