yea, i know the resons for not getting bagged. thats why if i had a celica, i probably wouldnt. but if you live in a town with tons of potholes, bumpy roads, etc, the best way (besides buying a truck) is getting bagged so you dont ruin the car. theres no other reason really to get em with a celica.

Or just not lower that much. Maybe even get a $500 junker and beat the crap out of THAT on your daily drive to work. Keep your tricked Celi for fun.

yeah where i live i HAVE to bag my car if i want it lowered... and i have to lower it cause it looks retarded with the wheel gap it has now... and even if i lowered it just a tiny bit i would still scrape going into driveways and such.. which would probably crack my molded body kit... i don't drive my celica that fast anyway so in my case i don't care if i sacrifice some of the speed or the handling... i just don't want to wreck it because if i do i can never get it fixed like it is now... also the reason why i'm not going to get a turbo or supercharger for it... not only does that put a greater strain on the engine making the engine not last as long... but i don't drive my car that fast anyway so why spend the money? shows aren't THAT important to me.. haha.. i'll make up the points somewhere else... really it's all personal preference... as long as i can go 80 i'm happy... i'm not gonna get bags though i'm gonna get cylinders.. and i've talked to someone on here who has them and says that you can go 80 just fine so i'm happy with that.. one day in the next couple years though if i get my network marketing business off the ground... i'm gonna get a different celica and turn it into a trailor queen and just spend like 100grand on it or something.. cause really what it takes to win BOS is money (along with creativity of course) and then i will buy the best for it cause i won't be worried about wrecking it... i'll have one celi for driving and one celi for shows

celikitten, Sounds like we would make the perfect couple. (don't worry, I'm not hitting on you) I just say that because I am also going to have one Celica for show and one Celica for daily driving, so can you imagine what our driveway would look like? Then if our kids also drove Celicas, It would look like a damn Celica meet in front of our house everyday.

hahaha... my house looks like a car show in the summer... between dad and i we have about 12 cars... most of them are garaged right now because it's winter... but as soon as summer comes out they all reappear in my sideyard... it's funny especially because dad, my sister, and i all had dakotas with weird paint jobs... and they would all be parked at the house at the same time and people would stop and ask if they could take pictures of them... haha

That is a nice paint job. I would like to do something like that with a gray top on the Celi. How do you like your Dakota? I have always wanted one. Seems like it would be the perfect truck. Not too big, not too small. You think it would pull the Celi on a flat bed trailer without too much trouble? I bought an S-10 with a V6 just for pulling my car, but too many people said it just was not a good idea, so I gave the truck to my mom. Now I'm looking for another one.
So which do you think would be better...Dakota or Silverado?

you have a bus? i want a bus! lmoa. at one of the local k-marts, every year during summer they park a few monster trucks thats go to the fair. on was a shortened bus (not actaully a handicap bus, just chopped) the wheels were about 2 inches taller then me. it was insane!

Yeah SnowFire, what the hell are you talking about? Who said anything about a bus? You smokin that shit again. Your the only one that said anything about a bus and speed bumps. Anyway, back to my normal conversation with the love of my life. That sucks. Isn't there a way to get a mid sized truck to pull a trailer well? How about if you build the engine to handle the extra weight and build the suspension to keep it from sagging or swaying? The biggest problem everybody said I would have if I used my S-10 would be stopping. A large brake kit should handle that right? Wait...What the hell am I talking about, why would I spend that much on mods for a truck when I could just buy a full size. Never mind. But yeah, I do like the Dodge, but if I get a truck, I'll just want to find a used one for about 10k. Chevy is the way to go for good cheap trucks I think. Plus a guy who builds custom Chevy trucks said that Chevy is the only truck than he can get 30 mpg in with just adding a CAI, throttle body spacer and flowmasters. Not sure if that's true though. I also heard Dodge trucks have a lot of trouble. No?

Oh, and celikitten, do you remember the conversation we had about engine polishing now? I pulled it back up, but not sure if you seen it. Didn't want you to think I was crazy when I asked you about it.

you might be able to pull it with a dakota V8.. just not a V6... have you ever concidered buying a wrecked vehicle?? my dakota was wrecked... was a club cab 4x4.. and had 7,000 miles on it when i got it... it was a 2000 and i got it in january of 2001... i paid around $12,000 for it (but that's cause my dad fixed it so i didn't have to pay someone else to) it was worth about $23,000 when i got it (if it was clear title) but if you can find one that isn't wrecked that bad and can fix it yourself.. or have a friend fix it... i think that's the way to go... my celica was wrecked too... so was my sebring... hahahah... notice a trend?? yeah i remember the engine polishing convo now... i just have to wait till spring before i do anything with my car because it's locked up in one of dad's garages for the winter

That's a damn good idea. I always see wrecked trucks really cheap, just never wanted to take the time to mess with them, but I'm sure it would be worth it. I'll look into that. Thanks. Now do you see why I love you? Rick, What should be sticky? What are you doing over there?

Hes sayin this thread should be a sticky. Meaning instead of it dying some day because no one responds to it, its stuck at the top of the section until you unstick it I think it should be too

Thanks TimO and Jamey, but the only ones that ever talk on this thread anymore are me and celikitten. And sometimes SnowFire.
I think we have run out of questions. I appreciate all the help Jamey and everybody gave me on this thread though.
I don't think somebody could come up with a question about show cars that hasn't been covered here. Between the million questions we have all asked Jamey, the input from pros like Darkduwende and the article that I posted from isaac, I really think we have covered it all.
So I'm not sure why somebody would want to make it a sticky.

It could be because he looks so damn mean, I think he is yelling at me everytime he talks to me. He is probably one of the nicest guys in the world. I don't know.
Have you ever seen his picture? He looks like the kind of guy that would punch you in the face for looking at him wrong.

I got a chance to see my shaved door handles while I was back home on vacation last month and noticed they didn't look very good. They are not very smooth and the paint doesn't match very well.
Will I just lose points because this job was not done well? Should I take it back to the shop and tell them to do it better?

One more question. Have you guys seen this G35 conversion? What do you think of it? I don't like it. Pete's IS300 conversion on his light blue APR Celica looks ok, I just hope I can find a way to max on body mods without doing a conversion.

ok, for the shaved door handles, you prob won't get as much of the points because the job isn't show quality or A+ from the way you describe it and if you do ANY conversions, please do the IS300 small round tails into the trunk, they look so great.
