well for weight reduction you obviously want the lighter one...you dont more weight in your car...
lol well true..but a pound really isn't going to do much either way but if you're really interested in it then that is something to consider.
both of my shift knobs are heavy...my b&m knob has a good feel to it and my sparco globe-r knob is a little lighter (but still on the heavy side) and i like it a lot more. great feel
Also remeber that if you get a metal one it's going to get friggin' hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
that is true. i drop around with my b&m ss knob through a winter and summer and it was miserable through most of those times. when it was cold it actually hurt your hand and when it was hot i'd have to do my shifts quick as possible
but...now i have a sparco globe-r knob which is also metal but it's actually pretty good in the heat. even on hot days i can keep my hand on the knob without being uncomfortable. i still do have a problem with the cold though
well...the reason that i ask is because my uncle has a machine shop and he said that he would make me one out of any metal that he has and of any design that i wanted (and that he would also ionize it black to match interior)... so i think that i will go with the light weight and go with titanium. i am not sure what the heat transfer for titanium is... would aluminum be a bad choice? thaks a bunch for the replies!
aluminum will get hotter quicker but will also get colder quicker water is 1degree celisus per gram or something whil aluminum is 4 degrees per gram
hey thats a 20 minute phone call "if i have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" derek: do you know that non dairy cream is flamable Jennie: ...derek..what did you do
Talkin about weight reduction on shift knobs... I remember a episode in TOP GEAR. The 2004 NSX has a special Carbine fabric around the shifter and it reduces 1 Killogram or something. LOL
