Well, since I wrecked my Celi, I've been looking for a car. The brothers who were in my car, well their mom is selling her car. Asked me if I was interested. Whatty'all think??

land rovers need constant maintainance... and gas will cost you a fortune, and the parts are hella expensive.

yea gas for suv is

SUV's are definitley not a good idea considering gas. plus it would be largely useless unless you are constantly shuttling more than 3 passengers at a time.

not practical for daily use if you ride alone


that is unless you plan on off roading to work/school though is a nice suv

I've heard that Land Rovers especially have poor gas mileage, but definitely fun for offroading.

i would go for the bmw suv x5 better looking

Hmmm, well, it depends on what kind of driving you do, what your lifestyle is, etc. My wife has the SUV, I've got the Celica, so when we're camping/hiking etc, we obviously take the SUV. I'm not impressed by the Land Rover myself, but I don't know much about it either. You've gone quite awhile since the Celi got wrecked, right?

i am a big suv fas, had a jeep wrnagler for 2 years. yea gas is a bitch, i got 13 mpg btu it was damn fun. If ur a suv man liek myslef go for it. Landrover, next to hummers, and the best suvs you can get and have a nice long legacy for wilderness ass kickers My vote is go for it, if you can afford it. But then agian its all up to you in the end, Dont let anyone esle change ur mind.

Don't much care for SUV's. How do you go from a small car to a HUGE SUV? I had a rough time going from the Celi to the Camry because of the size difference!!

I can think of a lot of worse things than owning a Land Rover. Who knows, at least for now it might be OK.

Ok...does anyone actually have one in the family? Or are we just all basing things off of nothing of relevance? Some serious feedback would be appreciated.

SUV's are for soccer moms and retirees/family men. Land Rover = crap in consumer reports.

My wife has a 4Runner. She's an inveterate SUV driver (not quite a soccer mom, but almost), and "must" have an SUV because she likes to be "up high" where the visibility is better (her story).

Before the 4Runner, I endured her Ford Explorer . If the Land Rover is anything like the Explorer as far as maintenance goes, I would advise you to avoid it. Basically, just about everything that could break on that Explorer, did. As a result, I insisted she get the 4Runner. From what I have been able to figure out, there are few SUVs that don't run up big maintenance costs; 4Runner is one of them.

If the Land Rover is fairly low miles, it may be OK for a while, but if you end up owning it and putting a lot of miles on, be prepared to pay $$$.

yes we owned a fully loaded Land Rover Discovery SE 7, it was nice...

off roading was very capable, gas consuption did suck, but we expected it. the only pit fall for us was that if had a lot of aftermarket parts, lift kits and such, and in our new house it didnt fit in the garage, so we got rid of it, and ended up totally down grading to a camry, now my dad wants a suburban (and so do i)

lol celiracer05 thats halarious about it not fitting. we had the same problem with my dads truck. now we are not really "rednecks" but we had a lifted truck and we could only get it in to the roof and rest woudl not fit was good for me, i got to keep my jeep in the garage :-D

I really think this is a personal opinon and ur in the wrong place to get others opinions. Now there are a few of us out there who are fans of bug gas guzzleing suvs but still love the company of a little pocket rocket :-) Being that this is E-celica, its a bit biased

Hmmm...that's good info, seeing that you're from CO. I bet the Rover would rule on winter days, that's unless it breaks down.

i didn't see anybody ask, but how much is it? what year? and how many miles? that thing is really huge, and handling is very poor. my boss used to have one, i drove the thing. man, on a standard 90 degree turn from a stop, i was 2 wheeling...

i knew someone that had one of those... they are really easy to flip... the gas is really bad... i would just buy a new celica dude...

^^Celica is probably the last thing I'd buy.

I'm still gonna hang onto an A4 1.8T quattro, chip it, swap the intercooler, etc...produce 300+ hp.

Parents will probably get me a camry though.

i wish my parents would just by me a car i work full time just to pay and build mine... and no i dont have much done... i have only had mine for 2mons.

what all do you have done to the a4 must be a lot since you going to have 300

Ah, you see, here's the magic of working with an already t/c'd car. I've done some research of my own, looked at some dyno sheets, and it is entirely possible to be pushing 300+ hp with roughly $2000. The easiest and cheapest upgrade is to chip your engine. This will allow your turbo to generate more power, and basically allows the engine to function at a higher potential. Then, I'd be picking up a Turbo back exhaust, which will also yield in marginal hp gains. Then, since the stock intercooler is insanely small, swapping that out for a larger one will easily yield a bunch of hp. Down pipe, whatever. Should work out to some serious numbers.

If the Rover is relatively low mileage and you've got $$ to keeop the tank filled, might not be a bad idea for a couple years, especially given that you're in Colorado, where it snows in August!!
