its official i just got my lettter today bitches...celica and echo dunno if this is a repost but i dont givea fuck because im happy as shit.

i just read it over and its the brake master cylinder and brade booster whatever the fuck that is.

What year?

yeah mines is on the recall too. The dealer told me when iw as there to get my new tranny put in.

but the thing i dont think its the actually change of brakes i just dont knwo what the above stated are...and to answer your Q its 2000 celicas and echoes not all

So how do we qualify for this?

I got an 00GTS and the brakes sucks fat ass. It clicks when braking reguarlarly at times, and it sounds like crap when braking on reverse.

Do I just call my dealership or something?

The recall are crap only about 4% of all the recall vin# will be affect (am I right?) I take mine to the dealer and they said my brake was fine. Yet my brake spueak and sound like shit too so good luck

just call a dealer with your vin handy and they will tell you if it effects you or not i was getting my car inspected like 2 weeks ago and they told me about it and fixed it then

basically they are only changing the master cylinder an booster, the part that is under your hood that gets pumped by ur break pedal, there is a common problem with master cylnders that the o-ring between the back of them and the booster can leak, the 2000 has that problem because of some sort of chemical they used when puttin them together, however not all are effected, if you dont have any break fluid leaking (seeping) out onto the side of you booster than they will not replace anything because there is no problem.

if your breaks are squeeking and grinding you need new breakpads! (get the cheap ones the ones that last forever squeek)

lifetime break pads thats a joke they jsut eat the hell outa your rotors then instead of 20$ in your drive way for brake pads its 400 for rotors

i didn't get a letter cause mine was made in 1999, production number #989 off the assembly line lol

what all did they recall on the 2000 celicas so far

Yep just got my letter in the mail today!!! set up a appointment this friday

just got back from the dealer, no visible leaks, but they were unable to check the brake lines for air b/c my car was too low to get on any of their lifts. i guess i'll just have to hope it's not been cleaned up since i bought the car used.

i got my letter too, but my brakes are fine, i doubt they will fix it if nothing's wrong or leaking...

yeah..i got an appointment for friday..ill let you guys know by then.

damn i bought mine from a private seller (it has a salvage title) i wonder it the recall will work for me. i get that squeeky noise breaking when im in reverse and going down my driveway in reverse. it's not the pads cause they don't sqeek in hard breaking

yeah i got a recall too...my brakes are squeaky every now and then like coming up to a stop sign or a red light..its annoying, hopefully they can fix that but if not then oh well

I just got my letter last night but get this, I called the Toyota Corp number listed on the NHTSA report back in October and they said there was no recall on my VIN#. Then WTF are they sending me a notice 3 months later for? I think it's stupid and I'm not in any hurry to get this checked out. Nor am I even thinking about having a resistor put in my car because some jack-off thinks my DRLs are too bright! Ok I just had to let that out Good luck to everyone else and all these damn recalls!

yeah i took mine to the dealer and they told me my vin wasn't for the recall and this sucks

cuz when i release the break pedal after breaking it squecks it don't happen when im breaking just after i complety stoped and release the break pedal to toget out of the stop

So I lied...I went ahead and made the appt, I qualified and now everything's fixed.

I'm trying to find all the threads about this and post that someone actually got new parts! lol So if anyone was planning on ignorning their letters please don't!

I recieved a letter about this awhile back.. Took it and got it checked... They said mine were fine...?!? I dont know... haha...

I had mine checked for the recall in december

same here, but mine was fine.
