I decided that, since I'm putting my Celica away for the winter, I might as well start some projects on it. Right now I'm doing a custom widebody with a VeilSide body kit. I got some "F1" fenders and BRS fender flares, screwed the flares onto the fenders and then molded them on. I still have to fill the gap in between the fender and the flare. Then I have to start on the front bumper and the rear of the car. Here are some pics of the process. Sorry about the quality of the pics, I had to take them with my phone since I let my sister take my camera back to college with her. I will have better pics later this week... let me know what you think. Thanks. thumbsup

Thanks! I've been working on it in my garage... I haven't had much time to work on it because of work and all... but that took me about a week to do. It's still not done, I have to fill the gap between the fender and the fender flare and then prime it and install it. I actually paid under $400 for the body parts, tools, & accessories. It's not a bad DIY mod at all, just time consuming. thumbsup

I got the flares from a guy who had an extra set left and wanted to sell them. I think visionautodynamics.com and ebay sell universal flare kits. You're going to be modifying them anyway so they don't have to BRS.

Yeah, but for our cars, nothing looks as good as BRS, just isnt the same to grab some universal type!! And it looks better when you go to car shows and you saw BRS flares, not universal, one there made for our cars, two their rare, so that right there is awesome!!

I used some fiberglass bondo and then regular bondo on top to smooth it all out. Oh and thanks for all the compliments & thanks to Mike! thumbsup

How did you get the bondo to look sooo white and shinny or is it just my computer that looks that way? Did you primer it?

Very nice work Julia. You are going to do very well at the shows next year.
Did you ever find more pictures of this car? I looked and couldn't find any. All I found out was the owners name is Shawn and he is a member of Projek7. Couldn't find any pics on their site either. http://www.projekseven.com/content/ .

I'm not sure, but most people just get the universal splitter from APR and just cut it to fit their car. I didn't know you could cut a Carbon Fiber splitter until GOLDCELICA told me. You would think they would make one for all the more popular kits like yours so you don't have to cut one.
So how is it that you know more about cars than most guys do? Were you out in the garage working on cars with your Dad instead of playing with dolls like all the other girls as a kid or something?
I wish my wife was even half way interested in this hobby of mine.

i didn't get my doors shaved cause when i drive mine (which is often in the warm months) i get in and out of it a lot and i just thought they'd get annoying... plus i always wondered what you'd do if your battery died or if they just stopped working... then you're pretty much screwed unless you want to crawl through the trunk every time you get in the car

i used to live next to a girl that had a civic with shaved door handles. she left her lights on one night and guess what? her battery died. so she had to call a locksmith to come and unlock her car for her so she could pop the hood and get a jump start. she had a remote that opened the windows for her so she could get in, but i guess that's useless when your battery is dead.

U know U can actually crawl up underneath the front of just about any car and pop the hood manually with your hand... My sister somehow lost the dipstick to her car (oil), so i searched around for someone who had an identical car, got up underneath, popped the hood and took the dipstick.. Only because her car is really old and the dealership was charging $30 for a dipstick. spineyes

^^^ i wouldn't say ANY car... because some of the cars have everything packed so tight in there that you couldn't reach your arm to the top through everything unless you were maybe gumby or something

just noticed you said "just about" any... haha... anyway what kind of car does your sister have?

hey Julia, will your wheel-well plastics hold in place? i thought about getting aftermarket fenders, but i was unure about the plastics in the wheel-well. (just like i have problems with my front bumper and the plastics) frown

i'm definately gonna have to try that project one day. Only problem is i dont think you can install lambo doors with aftermarket fenders..(maybe with some cutting??)

^^^ Thanks.

The wheel well plastics would stay in place if I didn't cut off the part of the fender they would snap into. I will be cutting my plastics just like Satohshi did in his write-up because I am putting bigger rims on, and it would also look much cleaner then it does now with that gap there.

As for the lambo doors, you can install them with the aftermarket fenders with some cutting. I have mine cut already, hopefully I'll have the hinges installed before spring. thumbsup

It does flow, I just don't have any pics yet with the side skirts on. I'm not molding the fender flares to the sideskirts because I'm always taking my kit on and off. Hopefully it still looks good, I've seen lots of pics where people have done the same thing I am and it turned out great. thumbsup
