Has any USED one of those generic intakes, like the $40 ones from eBay? I am curious if there is a noticeable performance difference between these and name-brand ones, or if there are other issues with using these. I bought an air filter from Jiffy Lube. 4 months later, the glue between the filter and seal gave way to create a 5" gash, letting particles through. I wonder if these generic intakes have similar problems, or others, such as oxygen sensor issues.

Thanks

you're better off buying a $40 K&N performance filter if you're concerned with money.

You don't want to be cheap and cut corners on your intake, it's the blood line to your engine.

If you're trying to be economical, buy a K&N filter. If you have some money, buy a brand name CAI or Short Ram

Yeah buying performance parts from e-bay is bad ju-ju. On the other hand buying appearance stuff (gauges, corner lenses, etc..) is ok by me

cheap = piece of crap

why buy a 40 dollar intake?
it is probably made of plastic

think about it...
220 dollars vs. 40 dollars...
which one do you think has the better quality, is manufactured to fit, and actually works?

I wonder how you can make one CAI perform much better than another. It's just a large wide tube with a filter on it.
The idea is there is no obstruction getting air into your engine.

So I doubt there is little difference in performance.
However I DO believe there is much difference in quality of the filter, the tubing (maybe the paint/powdercoating will come loose and go into your engine) and fitment.

Besides telling you have Injen or AEM sounds way better than telling you have a no-name smile

I have one & it does fine. I bought a good filter though & it's gonna get replaced soon or later. If I saw them making 50hp or something them maybe it would really be worth debate. Next year people will say Injen sucks, remember the Powerhouse Racing CAI that came out for us a few years back or the Rod Millen Intake that was must have?

i HAD it in my celi b4, i took it out because i was afraid it was gonna damage my engine. i don't think it did, i don't know, but i can say first hand that it sounds great and you can feel the power difference. mostly torque tho...

but yea, quality over price for sure, but its up to u. i would get an injen or AEM but i'm too lazy. saving up for body kit and new paint job!

I had a custom intake that I made on my gt and it was ok. I baught one from Ebay and my friend baught an AEM they weigh the same, sond the same and they mass ir flow fits the sam don't waste you money on going with the brand name. If it don't do like you want it to do, you have only lost forty bux. Mine has been great and it really sound good. Also check out the exhaust on Ebay. They are pimp. I just ordered on of those for my 90 crx. I'll post how it does in a few days.

Guys I have a drinking problem. I have two hands and only one mouth. HELP!!!!
