I'm trying to put a new front bumper but I wasn't sure if I'm required by law to have the side markers or whether I can shave them. I live in Cali so even farting is illegal but I wanted to find out from some of you guys whether you've had a problem before. Maybe some of you might know where I can get more info on this that would be helpful as well. Hope to hear from you guys, and thanks for your help!

Call up your state highway patrol. They should have a local number in the phone book. They should know. Don't say anything about shaving them, just ask them what the law is concerning sidemarkers.

hmm, this is very interesting. I just bought a blitz front and it doesnt have any openings for sidemarkers. if it is illegal to drive without them, then i gotta make a hole somewhere.

no way sidemarkers are REQUIRED. how would the cops know that it's needed in the first place? If you're a cop, there are TONS and TONS of cars everywhere, there's no way you can spot a missing sidemarker, IF it was illegal. But it's not... some cars don't even have them

True a lot of cars don't have them but they have amber corner lights which are visible from the side. I think side markers are the only reflective part that will allow you to see the car in the dark. That's why I thought they might be required to have.

First thing I did when my veilside came in was to fill in the sidemarker holes and keep the front plate off, it just makes it look that much smoother. I haven't heard anything illegal about not having, maybe if you go for inspection, but then just swap the stock bumper back on
