ok today i went to the shop and gave them the part number of the TRD exhaust that everyone here gave me. Now he calls toyota and tells me that it is just a muffler. a muffler for $599? hmmm...anyways.. then he says you could order the one for GTS and gut the flange and weld it on the other way from a local muffler shop... im all ok well i know people who installed a TRD exhaust on their GT...so he calls some more people and says oh TRD has discontinued making exhausts...im all wth!! well i only have 1 more week to get all this done because school starts so i go ahead and order a Greddy Evo for like $570...now i had doubt but i went ahead and gave $100 deposit...i'm thinking of just calling tomorrow and telling him to order the TRD exhaust instead...cuz some people tell me TRD only makes it for GTS and not GT... and some people tell me they have it for both...and he says that if it's just the muffler they will charge me the restocking fee which is like $200!! ahh!! what should i do help please?!! oh yeah here is the part number i have:00602-17500-005. is that the right one? i have a 2000 GT automatic 4 speed.. so yeh all you peeps who have the TRD exhaust on a GT please help me quick!!! this shop is really starting to piss me off...
you happy boy?

Go to a different shop or order on the internet. He's BS'ing you. And I don't think you would like the Greddy..it's super quiet and really heavy.

https://celicahobby.com/catalog/specials.php...Currently have the TRD exhaust installed on my GT for several years now - its awesome, never a simple problem. Took a friend and less than an hour to replace the factory stock system for the TRD system

10. HKS Hi-Power MSRP: $710 28 pounds 95 mm tip 79 db at idle 90 db at 3000 rpm 165.7 hp peak 121.7 lb-ft peak
Summary:
Peak Power (highest to lowest in hp): 166.7 - TRD 166.5 - Tanabe 166.4 - Rod Millen 166.3 - GReddy 165.7 - HKS 165.3 - Veilside 164.0 - A'Pexi 163.0 - 5Zigen 162.4 - Blitz 161.0 - Factory
Peak Torque (Highest to lowest in lb-ft): 123.5 - TRD 122.6 - Tanabe/ Veilside 122.5 - Rod Millen 122.0 - GReddy 121.7 - HKS 120.8 - A'Pexi 120.4 - 5Zigen 119.9 - Blitz 119.6 - Factory
Price (highest to lowest in dollars): 710 - HKS 690 - Veilside 660 - Tanabe 648 - TRD 599 - GReddy 560 - A'Pexi 550 - Rod Millen 530 - Blitz 220 - Factory N/A - 5Zigen
Weight (Lightest to Heaviest in lbs): 8 - Veilside 21 - Blitz 23.5 - A'Pexi 25 - TRD 26.5 - 5Zigen 27.5 - Factory 28 - Rod Millen/ HKS 29 - Tanabe 35.5 - GReddy
Noise (Most quiet to Loudest in dB at idle): 75 - Factory/ TRD/ Rod Millen 77 - A'Pexi 79 - 5Zigen/ HKS 82 - Veilside/ GReddy/ Blitz 83 - Tanabe
Noise (Most quiet to Loudest in dB at 3000 RPM): 76 - Factory 79 - 5Zigen 83 - GReddy 88 - A'Pexi/ Rod Millen/ TRD 90 - Veilside/ HKS 93 - Tanabe 98 - Blitz
Keep in mind that although the numbers may differ from individual to individual, the test were done together by Turbo, so the ranking should not be that different (except price). As you can see from the little tables, TRD is probably still the best overall performer. Veilside is pretty good, except that it fall short a bit on the peak horsepower (again, can't just look at peak power, and I didn't compare the entire dyno graphs) and it's physically daunting. GReddy has previously posted on nc.org about it having a high quality exhaust and from the data gathered, it's not quite true. Even tho it's pretty darn close to the highest peak powers and peak torques, the Evolution is by far the heaviest, which more than likely offsets whatever power advantage it may have. Blitz makes very little power above factory, probably even negligible; its saving grace are sound (from what ppl have said), price (lowest next to factory), and weight (second lightest). Tanabe consistently ranks well as does Rod Millen (probably b/c of its close ties to TRD). TRD and Rod Millen also makes the biggest jump in noise at 13 dB between idle and 3000 rpm; 5Zigen doesn't change in that range.

And I don't think you would like the Greddy..it's super quiet and really heavy. you must be some really skinny kid ... if the difference between 28 lbs and 34 lbs is going to sway your descision on exactly what you want... I say just toss on some tennies, shorts and leave the doc martins at home - oh and don't bring your whole CD collection with you when you "race" (or just simply remove your stock radio/cd box before hittin the track in your $18k hatchback) - there are your 5 to 10 lbs right there BTW - I like NOT drawing the attention of every cop car in the general city limits when I leave the danse clubs past midnight on a schoolnight

They like take out their back seats, carpeting, spare tire, which I think is pretty .

MptGlw69, I think I just made a new best friend Thanks - its all good! I one who installs what he wants and could care less what everyone else thinks - but then again, this is the whole Import Tuner philosophy according to LJ Garcia http://www.streettuners.com/featured_tuner/lj_garcia/ljgarcia.html

Well, the Kazuma is about the only exhaust that is an actual cat-back so the TRD exhaust is listed under the sport muffler section since it isn't a cat-back.

Guess I was mis-informed.

an "axle back" ...And all this time I thought the Exhaust system has something to do with the Catalytic Converter system (behind the Cat system)... but I guess I was wrong, the Exhaust system is all part of the Suspension/Axle system

Exhaust is anything that is unused, coming from the engine. The cat is located AFTER the engine - so yes, the CAT is part of the Exhaust system. This is why it is illegal to disable/remove the cat from your car - because the cat helps to capture and filter out the particles that create smog. This also explains why Europe and Japan version get larger gains - their exhaust regulations are not as strict as they are here in USA... and thus, their cat is basically "dumbed-down" or not even in the flow of the engine "waste"/smog particles How Catalytic Converters Work... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter.htm/printableHow Mufflers Work... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/muffler.htm/printable
