let me guess, you have an exhaust, with out headers right...? and maybe even an intake! hummmmm... well like everyone out there who is wondering what causes back fire...! when you only have an exhaust and no headers, all the air is force out when you step on gas of course, and without headers, the stock headers is not the same diameters as the new exhaust... while the air pushing out, when you shift, a good amount of air goes back in with the air pressure pushing out...!
simple as this: Gas, force air out--- you shift--- air in and then out again when you gas again...!

my car backfires also, kinda annoying, the possible problems are 1. bad spark plugs but they are iridium so most likely not 2. bad tank of gas but happens with more than 1 fill up 3. bad spark plug wires but the 7th gen have Electronic ignition so i cant be that. 4. simple as this: Gas, force air out--- you shift--- air in and then out again when you gas again...! 5. anybody else want to add to the list to what the problem might be please do so we can possibly find the cause and fix the problem.

I have the same problem. I have an Injen SRI and an Injen axel-back exhaust. If you keep the RPMs up when you shift, you won't notice it as much.

i use to have this problem too, it was sooo annoying. i put a aftermarket resonator on my car to shut it up and the backfire went away also. but now my car is almost as quiet as stock. if it wasnt for my intake my car would sound so weak..and after putting so much money into my exauhst i would have been mad. but i guess putting some headers on should fix this?
