OK...tonight i finally got the Red LEds for my radio and gauges...i tried to do the radio. Well im sure that i faced the LEds the right way...but everything dosent light up except my LCD panel..and when the LCD panel lights up i cant see anything( radio stations, CD track). When i finished(3 hours later)i put the radio back together to see if it would work..eveything was fine except for the LCD and track change LEDs. Then i took it back apart and tried to fond some areas that i didnt solder in correctly. The second time i checked if everything was working...nothing was light up ecept for the LCD. Now i have no lighting on any of the numbers and everything else except for the LCD. Everything was soldered in correctly (I belive) could there have been something i did in order to disable the lights??? If i cant find a solution i might have to buy a new Radio..and i really dont want to do that. Has this problem happened to anyone doing this conversion...now in scared to do my gauges. stefanoc...if you still have that Red radio for sale..im now thinking about buying it if i cant find a solution within 2 days...i cant stand a fucked up radio in my car!

for some reason there is a dark stop like the one that you seem to have on that pic. probably you had solder on one of the connections or had one LED installed wrong.
anyways, congrats, make sure you change the window switch light also.

I did my own LED install as well, and I have the same problem. The reason why you have a dark spot is becuase of 2 possible reasons:

1) The LED is not touching the contacts to the radio circuit board
or
2) U burned the contact

Only way to find out is to open it and check. I had to do that a couple of times. And since it was my FIRST time doing Sauldering, I ended up burning the contacts. I'm glad I did I better job on the gas gauge. But not a bad job.
