OK so I finally got the 15-LED bulbs I posted about earlier, and all is great except for one minor problem. The turn signal arrow and bulb are blinking at a very fast rate, as if the bulb was burnt out. Can anybody shed some light?

isn't that like an upgrade? some people look to getting their turn signals to blink faster.. which is cool i guess? or.. is that not what you're talking about?

i don't know, i guess some people want them to blink quicker. i'm just interested in knowing if it's the bulb or something else that's causing this rapid motion.

did it have a relay or something with the bulb? cause as far as i know.. the only way to make it blink quicker is to get a new relay thingie for it. but if its just the bulb.. just let it work.. and if you get nervous just take it to where you bought it and ask the people there.

i bought the bulbs on-line and they have not gotten back to me yet. could the relay be built into the bulb?

im no expert, but its a possibility. or it could be a problem with the different volts and watts or something. again, im no expert on this. i think they sell those at autozone. just go there and ask them if its something normal or if its something to do with your car.

another thing you have to take into account is LED's use less power compared to a bulb.. and our stock harnesses were design to take a certain amount of electricity to pass through them.. There are basically two things that can happen if one replaces the stock turn signals with LEDs (or smaller bulbs) on their vehicle or motorcycle. Usually, when you remove incandescent bulbs from a blinker system and replace them with LEDs - the stock flasher relay begins to blink too fast. This is actually the designed response of the flasher relay as it is trying to indicate to the operator that a bulb is burned out, which is not the case. edit** So yes in essence it is the LED bulb

It is most likely the bulb...sometimes if you use a different sized bulb than the ones that are supposed to go in your signals...it will blink at a different rate. I'm not saying that they shouldn't fit...but since they're different than stock...thats probably why

It is better if it flashes faster - that way dumbass-slacked jaw idiots will know that you are switching lanes. unless it blinks so frickin fast that it appears to be a solid light - oohhh thats a trip

Since the LED bulbs use very very little power, the excess power is being returned which mimics the same effect as having one of your lights out, which is why it flashes fast. New relay should help.

So here's the solution given from the place I bought the LEDs:
"LEDS will cause this in some vehicles due to the high resistance. This can be corrected using load equalizers. Use two 6 ohm equalizers for two front, or two rear led turn signal bulbs. If you have led turn signal bulbs in the front and rear (4 led turn signal bubs total), use two 3 ohm."
1 Ea. 6 OHM DELUXE ALUMINUM LED Load Equalizer Corrects Most LED Related Turn Signal Problems Two in front and two in rear required. 12-14 Volt Easy Install W/ Mounting Holes $6.99
Nonetheless they look great! The red burst of light is definitely a major improvement over your standard red 7440 bulb. They remind me of the type of lighting on a police car or fire truck. Very bright!

thanks for the support guys..
here is a short video of the rapid blinker. it wasn't shot at a high res. so it does lack quality, but it still gives you an idea of how fast the LED flashes.
oh yeah, sorry for the polka music in the back ground...i shot this at my friends house and the non-english speaking neighbors where having a feista.
