Ok, so I just got my car back after having the engine completely rebuilt. Spent about $6400 to have all my bearings replaced, rods balanced and polished, crank turned, added some wiseco high compression race pistons, apr studs, and engine blueprinted blah blah blah and then some. Been waiting for 2-1/2 months(A WHOLE entire story in itself) to get it back ok. Its still messed up so I take it to another shop to get timing problems fixed. They fix that after explaining the oil pan has to be dropped. Still messed up when i get it back. Take it to toyota and they say that the cam sensor is grounding out and messing the entire thing up. Couldnt push on gas or dam thing bucks harder than riding a horse eatin up by mad cow or something.Ok so after that is corrected, the car runs like it should. Sounds awesome, lift kicks in sweet with the apex-i chip, dc header, apexi exhaust and AEM intake. Thing sounds like a road car. So,I have my car back for 2 days and blow it up again. what fun. Take it back to toyota for them to tell me what happened. Come to find out, there are pieces of a rag floating aroung in my oil pan and a nice chunk stuck on the screen leading to my oil pump. Basically, they told my that i was so lucky that the rod didnt come flying through the block because rod#3 is shaky, like you can move it a little, but either rod #1 or 2 is screwed. They said they cant see it but its got to be so messed up to be knocking that hard. While im looking at all the shavings in my oil pan, i am wondering, why do i even try anymore. I just am lucky i found some guy willing to sell me another engine for 1000 w/ 49K mi on it. What do you think. I will be probably going to court about this, seeing that toyota explained that the rag blocked the passage of the oil to lubricate the bearings so they just got messed up. So like i say, if anyone thinks they have it bad with their car, just let me know because i am curious.

go to court and investigate the new engine w/49k miles on it, it's your best bet.

Oh man, what a pain. No, I've never been in a situation like that. Totalled a car once a long time ago, but never had to deal with shops like you have. So Toyota isn't taking any responsibility for the rag incident?

well, its not toyotas fault, they are the ones that found the rag, its the 2nd shop i took it to that fixed my timing. Toyota was the 3rd place i took it to. The guy at toyota that found the rag is putting it in a ziplock back and holding it for me if i have to go to court. so they have already written up an estimate at $5k with engine that has 70K mi. on it. I just found another guy which im buying the engine from that has 49K mi for only $1k. So, much better deal.

im sorry but i think i am going to have to get rid of the celica cause its causing way too many problems. Ever since i have had it i have been in trouble, and i think ill be looking at a SRT-4. Cant go wrong with a stock turboed car i guess. Just a thought at the moment...

yes i just took my car to a dealer yesterday since my auto gts transmission got stuck in 4th gear twice last week and when i reverse i hear a loud clicking noise from the front --they called me today said they road tested it and found no problems and heard no clicks from reverse when i have people ride with me they can hear it and the reverse thing happens everytime--the 4th gear thing only happend twice so i didnt expect them to encounter it again unless i got really lucky-
respect the gt-s
