We are going to go look at some dealers around here. He only wants to buy from a dealer since he has a trade in.
What do you think would be a fair price for a GTS with 30k miles? 40k? etc. So we have an idea of what to look for.
He has a GT with 62k miles and still owes 11k on it so we have to find some good deals on GTS's so his payment doesn't go up much more than he is paying now.
After he drove my GTS he couldn't stop asking me to drive it so he decided to get one.
dude it all depends of the year. a good suggestion is pay the amount between wholesale and retail. the biggest trick is saying NO, and seriously take ur time man. dont let ur friend just spend extra cash just cz he wants the gts a day early. this is wut i would say, at around this price range i would get the car
00 gts with 30k: 13-14,000 01 gts with 30K: 13-15,500 02 gts with 30k: 13-16,500 03 gts with 30K: 13-18,500 04 gts with 30K: 13-20,000
if you find it at these prices, jump on it. these prices listed are prices out the door with tax and everything. remember the excuses, like its not my favorite color, i wanted leather seats, i didnt expect it to have these many scratches on the hood, the tranny feels tortured, belts making noise, it looks modified you wonder wut the previous owner did to it, you need my business just as much as i need the car and if you dont need my business then i dont need ur shit there are millions of cars in this country. dont give them ur budget, whenever they ask you how much r you thinkin to spend, just dont tell em ur budget and say cheaper the better. dont give any numbers they might go down lower than you expected. if you cross the limit, just give ur best offer which should be low and have him work around it. dont be afraid to leave, be happy when leaving without purchase cz they hate that. you arent missing a deal, they are missing the money. they need to get used cars out of the lot asap cz not only they lose money as time goes by, but it gets expensive, they gotta wash it, have it illuminated, and get it out of there before it gets any damage and get new cars in.
i would say be really careful and if you can try to buy the car private from a rich lady. why? cz if they dress nice, they wont mess the seats too much(jeans wears seats out quicker), women arent as hard drivers as men, and like to take care of their cars and keep it clean, plus they wont modify them. believe it or not, lots of ladies drive a celica, cz their rich husbands got them as a gift probably as it looks fast, it looks expensive and is sporty. be really cautious man, buying a gts is not like a civic. its a high revving engine and weird gates gears that could easily mess up. good luck
first off, your not gonna get anything for your friends gt trade in. If lucky they'll credit you 6k for that car. Second, if your getting a used gts, get it from a private seller. They're going to charge you an arm and a leg for it if you get it at dealer. for 30k gts around lets say 01 it'll be like 14k. now lets do some math. 14K(gts)+11k(gt payment)-6k(trade in) = 19K. Basically you are paying 19k for a used 01 gts with 30k miles. I say its not worth it.

actually most dealers go by the kbb.com trade in value, which happens to be $10,100 for his car, so he will have to add around $1,000 to the GTS cost.
