I am trying to remove the top nut off my front strut at the top of the strut assembly (possibly called the strut bearing like on VWs) is spinning and thus not facilitating the removal of the top nut off the treads. So, basically, the 17mm nut on the strut holding the spring on won't budge...Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone encountered this before??? I really need some help, it's my daily driver and can't have it off the road for long. Thanks for any help I recieve.

YOu do have this in a spring compressor right?

Use a vice grip if it's spinning.

the only object to grab is the flang at the top of the spring holding it in place. But when i did that, the flang started bending!!!! i've never seen anything torqued down so tight on a suspension before. I'm lost as what to do, because now when i released the spring compressors, the spring didn't seat correctly and the car has a major camber on that side. could i have possibly bent something in the core of the strut trying to get the nut off??

you might want to take that to the dealership or a shop and get that checked out ASAP. doesnt sound good at all

What did we learn today Kids? If you have to ask to many questions then you shouldn't have started in the first place. No seriously, you need to seek professional assistance before your small problems becomes a larger unsolvable one.
