So the day was going well, opened some presents for my friends, shipped off an RMM wing, got a hair cut and bought some shoes... So, right after all that, im going to pick up a girl for a movie and decided my car was a little to messy to take her out. I drove to a carwash at a 76th station. The reason i chose this one is because the car wash moves around the car verses the car moving from the carwash. I could never go to the carwashes that move the car due to the clearence of my car. After the wash was done i moved very slowly over the bump...i guess it wasnt slow enough because my car made it over the bump then the skirt landed straight onto the metel bump and totalled it. As im driving out of the car wash my left skirt is hanging down scrapping the ground. Some how the bump took out about 4 screws . On top of having my skirt hanging off my car I had to go back in and buy a screw driver and Duct Tape so it could be held on. The worst part is my car wasnt even cleaned well at all My question is, can i fix urethane? is it possible or cost effective? ...I was extremely pissed and almost gave up on the celica and was gonna part everything out and sell all my parts. but this may be a sign to buy some more things?! what do you guys/gals think i should do?

I think that you should stick with the Celi. And no more auto car washes. Hand wash your car. I think that it is worth the effort. I took my Red GT to one of those drive thru thing once, just to try it out, and I ended up with scratches everywhere. Learned my lesson.

i think you can use liek the fiberglass patching on fix it. someone else with a skirt did that and i think it worked. dont remeber which thread it was in. i would try that. as for bad carwash experiences. my mom took my sisters 66' mustang into one, didnt take off the antenna. antenna wrapped aorudn the brush and acrually began to lift the car. damn old cars were made well

If I ever go through the auto wash, I go through the touchless ones. These just spray water, soap, and polish on the car. No brushes, therefore no sratches.

That totally sux man i felt the same way at first a couple of weeks ago when my rear bumper was totaled but i love my car! my advice to you would be just to buy new side skirts and if possible sell your old ones. Its pretty easy to find new skirts for a cheap price and once you get them i promise you will never chance anything in your car again, like they said above lesson learned. But yea that sucks ass

Damn that sucks Brian. If it's any consolation, I saw your car that night at the movie theater and I didn't even notice the damage (although my wife did). I left a note under your windshield... did it blow off before you got out of the theater? Anyway, the celica was looking good. Don't give up on it!

Thanks Evan, I did get the note its still sitting in the car! I appreciated the kind words, i said "damn, i wonder if he saw my side skirt" lol, At least the silver duct tape goes nice with a silver car . I didnt get to see your car have you made any changes? Still am jealous of those rims and the Kam rear end! Judging by the pics your car is still sexxy! Even you should come to one of our meets we hold every 2-3 months or so. -Brian

I think a side skirt on a Celi is not too bad to fix. Just drill some holes not too far from the original holes on the skirt, tap them, & then screw in the new screws. U might need to also drill some holes on the front part of the skirt(& tap them) behind the front wheel & in front of the rear wheel. Jack up the car on each side when you do this. (Remove the wheels). U might need some washers in this case. Good luck Brian! Let me know how it goes man.
