My gts does the samething, its prob just the belt. The tensioner might need changed, should be covered under warranty. Does it do it anytime the air is damp?

prolly belt, maybe tensioner. Change belt first. Gatorback belt at autozone is a good choice. If this doesn't do it...tensioner.

Happens to my 2000 GT whenever it rains or there's moisture in the air. Kinda embarrassing, but what can I do...

u need new tensioner belt..it's a serpentine belt..should cost you around $25-30 at ur local Advanced autopart store...anyway..if ya gonna get one, might as well get the Gatorback belt everyone's talking about..i wanted one but no where in Nebraska do they carry them..i've called everywhere in town for them and they all says the same thing..nebraska don't carry those..oh yeah..my 00gts also squeaks like hell..

Same problem here also. Usually the squeaking goes away after the car warms up. But these last two days the squeaking has been continuous until I turn the car off. Makes the car sound like crap. I hate it.
I figure I will take it to Toyota dealer where I bought it. Then when I get there I will tell them the problem. Then they will turn the car on and the squeaking will be gone. Since proplems usually always go away and can't be recreated once you get to the service department.

Took my car in to Penske Toyota this morning in Cerritos, where I bought the car. I dropped the car off at 8:40am. I told the service advisor about the engine squeal. They took it in and 2 hours later it was done. They replaced the belt. Said it was glazed and cracked and that was causing the squeal.
