I was just driving home from work. And I see the CEL come on for seemingly no reason. But then if it did come on I guess there is a reason? The car was not driving funny and was not making any unusual noise. Anyone have any ideas? Could use some help.

hmmm if you can get the code pulled then do it. If not just reset your ECU. and if it dont come back in a week or two. then dont trip.

My CEL came on last week as stated above. So going on the advice of my good buddy Caleb [Speed4TheNeed] I just reset the ECU. He said that if I reset the ECU and the CEL didnt come back on after abit of driving it was nothing serious, maybe it just missed a link in the timing belt. Well I drove to work and back the next day...no CEL. I drove the rest of the week...No CEL. But last night the bastard popped on again on my way home from work. So this morning I took my car to AutoZone to try and get an idea of what the hell was going on. They came back with a code: P0440 "The PCM has detected that a malfunction exists in the evaporative emission control system." The woman said that it could come from a number of sources such as: a loose fuel cap, evaporation canister or hose cracked or not connected, or a vacuum leak at engine. Does anyone have any advice on how I can check for any of that at home [other then the fuel cap of course]? Or should I just take it in to get looked at? Need help guys!

check your gas cap, when you close it make sure it clicks once or twice (like you didnt know that) or check fuel lines under car make sure nothings cracked

the best way to check that is with a smoke machine, but you probably dont have one of those at your house. take it to the dealer.
