hi everyone i was thinking about the next thing i wanted to do with my car and my friend suggested removing my cat...only prob. is i couldn't figure out where to go or what to do to replace it...easy solution straight pipe definate prob. finding a place to get it..if anyone has done this and has any suggestions please let me know...i know its illegal and such but emissions are very lax in new orleans so any advice would be appreciated
the fine is 2500 here but the law enforcement about it is really lax i've been reading about cel's though and i am rethinking it i wanna do it but i don't wanna cause other problems
its illegal to take it off i remember on a dyno of my 95 vw jetta vr6 that there was only a 1 hp increase over stock and that can be a bunch of diffrent things
hey thats a 20 minute phone call "if i have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" derek: do you know that non dairy cream is flamable Jennie: ...derek..what did you do
on the celica, if you're running the stock ecu you will not gain power. you will actually lose power and cause your car to run very rich. I would really advise against taking it off.
but it's not like I would know anything about this anyways
I wouldnt take the cat off most likely it will cause the car to trip codes or cause backpreasure problems. Id have a straight pipe welded in place of your resonator and leave the cat alone. The stock cat is just about as free flowing as a cat can get.
there is no vehivle inspections here in south carolina you can take it off but its not the power its hyped up to be plus we have newer cars we can go doing all the old school tricks we have o2 sencors before and after if they read diferent than what they are told to read they will send all kinda codes to your ecu mess with your fuel ratio b/c the amount of fuel in the untreated pipe etc.
magnaflow hi-flow cats sell for about $55 shipped on ebay. 2" - 3" versions, with quarter inch intervals inbetween
and yea, louisiana does have pretty lax emissions controls, which is a good thing. im prob going to do a kazuma setup..or a setup similar to kazuma without the stupid resonator.
