Bring the receipt as proof of the repair and proof that your speedometer was incorrect and if you are polite than the judge should let you make it.

I got pulled over yesterday by 2 MP's on a naval base yesterday... For doing a Cali stop, twice, at a four way stop... and they jus let me go and if i were to get a ticket from them it wont hurt anything it will jus ruin my privileges of driving on the base and i dont care because i hate that military base and i hate the navy and MP's can suck my...exaust pipe

Even if it was off by 12, you were still speeding by 10 mph..

bring the receipt that says your speedo was off. don't tell the judge by how much, but tell him it was off. then see if he notices by how much. most people drive close to 10 over anyway without hassle from the cops.

Good luck with that. All depends on how the judge is feeling that day. Don't think it'll get you out, but it might reduce your fine. I tried that doing 90 in a 65 with my bike, and the judge was like that's no excuse...

be courteous and provide proof that your speedo was off.

oh yeah, never talk slang in court. using proper english shows that your are mature enough to fight for a better ending, plus the judge might be lenient this way. thumbsup

Yeah, if you can prove your speedo was off by 12, that would mean you thought you were going 65. Here in AZ, ten over or less is a reduced ticket, call "waste of resources" (fuel). You're in North Carolina? I don't know the law there, but they may have something similar. Good luck!

77 in a 55 isn't that bad. Your speedo being off that much will warrant much harassment by the Judge. That's not normal. He might say you would of or should have known the difference.
Can you back it up other than a piece of paper? Or can I say, how are you on the bulls**t. That's one of the oldest bulls**t excuses known to traffic court. You will be flogged and feathered in front of the whole court especially being 16 (no half there in court). I know how it is and you want to get off, but swallow it and learn.

Don't even bother. Cops will go through their checks upon checks for radar in front of the Judge and everyone. The ticket will stand because you were speeding and the speedometer cable check you did won't stand. You will look stupid. Case over. Maybe, if the Judge is nice he/she will give you a break being that you are only 16.
That's your only hope... being young and stupid.
