Question:

Whenever my car is at a full stop or even in park the RPM never sits on 0. what does this mean?

Right, RPM isn't tire RPM its engine RPM. This means the engine is still running even if you're at a stop smile

smile yup. ur engine has to keep running or it will stall. if you want you can turn it off everytime you stop but that woudlnt be very good to do smile. Now for manuals they idle (when stopped, the engine rpm) its when you push in the clutch and the enine is nolonger connected to grearrs. Now for automatic they have a torque converter that allows your engine to be in gear and run at low rpm idle. I may be wrong or left some stuff out smile

i hope you have RPM's when your car is running... RPM's = good sign that your car still lives...

if you turn off your car... and the RPM gauge does not go down to the little needle stopper then you have to get your gauges recalibrated... can probably do it your self... when sitting in idel.. it has to be above 0 or like everyone said it would not be running

no, i think he's asking about when the car is SHUT-OFF and his RPM gauge needle is not set to 0k.

i dont think that is a problem because your car is not running. thumbsup

i think he means when the car is off
in that case, just recalibrate teh needle, but it'll still be off a tad.

ditto.

it's nothing to worry about though...i personally would just leave it alone unless you already have access to the gauges due to a project or whatever.

Just a needle issue, go get them tweaked basically anywhere, preferably a Toyota dealer. I remember a friend of mine going to get her dash gauge overlay installed and she didn't realize until the next day that the shop messed up her passenger side window relay. Get somebody that will know what they are doing 100%

i know what she talk about ...

When you shut off the engine the rpm indicator is not at 0 and it's right but pull out your key and wait about 20/30 sec and it will fall at 0 ... i will post pic of that later

But if the rpm indicator never fall to 0 even when the key is out then it need to be recalibrate
