the install would be no problem at all, and the cost is not a factor, just want some opionions about putting neons in the trunk. would it be too ricey since i already have them in the footwells and doorwells? i don't want my car to look cheap

go for it since you already started with the neons in the front so go ahead and finish it out with trunk neons

someone write up an install guide on how to install these, best places to mount, where to hide wires and whatnot and how to wire them to the trunk light so they go on when you open the trunk i was thinking of doing this myself and a guide would be very helpful as im not too familiar with wiring and whatnot.

you wanna run them with the trunk light? hmm, i'm gonna run them with the footwell and doorwell neons i already have so they're on whenever i want, not just when the trunk is open. and if you don't have neons already, just wire them to a switch in the dash if you want? otherwise the wiring is pretty simple: remove the rear quarter-panel, solder the neon wires to the positive wire of the trunk light, and cut off the excess wire or zip tie it or something behind the quarterpanel. i'll try to post pics in like a week when i do it.

i LOVE neons,, lol look at my pro... i ran one BIG wire to the back and spliced all of those little neon wires into it, so that i dont have 2346534 wires running all over the place...dont worry about whether its "rice" or not... dude its ur car... everyone thinks my car is rice but i like it...

This is what I did. I connected the positive wires from the neons to red wire of the switch and the negative wires from the neons to the black wire of the switch. This way your neons will only turn on when the hatch opens. Here is a pic that might help you out a bit.

thanks tony and great pics isaac. debating on weather using cold cathodes or neons. cot cathodes are cheaper but i woudl need to extnd the wire on the other side and i hear that dimms their light if you extend it to much

visible tubes do something to fix that to remain functional, they don't create enough light to be able to recess them without doing custom fabrications... besides, the angles that you have to be at, to see them (as I pictured above), are not common angles... basically, if when they are off and you are standing above your trunk, you wont really notice them enough for it to bother you... from my own experience

have them shine through the panels in the side of the trunk, that would look better

I would just wire the neons to a switch to the trunk light, so that way during the day the neons don't kick on when you open the trunk. At night flip the switch and open your trunk. My cold cathodes burnt out on the freeway for some reason about a month ago. I still haven't replaced them. Just ripped em out last week. Back to CompUSA for another return.
