Just lately I've noticed my rear passenger side brake makes a grinding noise when I apply the brake. It goes away after the car warms up (its been cold here in Cincinnati). It doesn't sound very good though. I briefly looked around the discs and tire and couldn't see anything abnormal. I am also pretty sure that my back breaks are good for another 15-17k miles.

I do have some weight in my trunk b/c I was trying to weigh down my car for snow driving, so maybe it has something to do with shocks. The weight has been there for over a month and a half and the noise just started a week ago. Any suggestions as to what this is? Maybe just the cold weather?

My 2000 Celica GT does that too, but it's more like a tremendous squeal. It goes away when the car warms up, and it only starts making the noise when it's cold. I'm not sure which side it's coming from, but honestly, when I wash my car, the sound goes away, at least for a little while.

I'm thinking of taking it in for inspection.

Maybe that's what I'll do too. Thanks.
