I've only had my Celica for like a few months now, but learning lots about it as the days go by. I'm not too familiar with Toyota's ECU, but have lots of experience with Mazda & Honda from previous cars. My question is, that if the CEL ever comes on, will the car go into "limp mode" where it retards timing and thinks something is wrong? Cause I know Honda cars will do that. Anybody know?

depends on what the CEL is for. different problems recieve different actions. It's a very "smart" ecu. hence the "I" in VVTL-I

I see, so if your intake throws a CEL code, then its not going to retard timing and act weird right?
