I've got a 2001 GT, and am thinking of putting a cold air intake in, my question is what is the difference between the ShortRam intake and the Race division Cold Air Intake? Thanks

Short Ram - Shorter pipe, filter sits inside the engine compartment, looks nicer, cheaper price.

CAI - longer pipe, filter sits infront of wheel well to draw cooler air from the outside, slightly better performance gain, more expensive.

I have the CAI and I absolutely love it! thumbsup

Yep that's about it.

SRI- Low end torgue, smaller, cheaper

CAI- High end torgue, longer, a little more money, a little more hp.

SRI loses low end torque. At least the RMM SRI does. With a CAI you have to worry about hydrolock which seems to be happening to people lately but if you are careful not to go over huge puddles of water (especially pushing the pedal when going over water) you should be okay. Search for all the info on this you could want.

i had the CAI. when it was getting old and dirty, i switched to short ram. not much difference. SRI looks better in the engine bay. and easier to remove the air filter.

for those of you with the SRI, what about gas mileage? Did, the mileage your getting go down any? Or did it stay basically the same? thanks -

No changes in gas mileage with my Injen Short Ram Intake. I definitly feel a difference in torque at lower rpms though thumbsup

i have the injen sri..the gas milege is still the same..i notice a lot of low end power..but on the high end its nothing..but i love how it sounds tho..great roar!

I was having the same debate in my head about SRI or CAI. I'm going with SRI because it looks awsome under the hood the CAI just looks like borning old piping cause it goes into your fender where you can't see it. and a guy on here recently destroyed his engine because of a CAI so i'm going to be safe. you can get the aem cai with bypass valve but with the bypass valve it has about the same performance as a sri so kinda not worth it. You can also get a heatsheild for your SRI to kinda help keep some of the engine heat away from the SRI. Also if you get the injen sri with the injen spark cover and intake cover it makes a nice package under the hood.

K&N sells an air filter 'recharger' kit or something like that which costs i think $10 or so...but i'm not sure how often you would have to do that. But i wouldn't think it would be more often than you are already changing your air filter...

i'm glad you posted this thread because now i think i'm going to get a short ram with heatshield tasty

so you can put the heatshield on the SRI? it says its for the CAI, but i can see where it would easily work for both.

It has to be a typo, its for the SRI.

I too have read one too many stories of people hydrolocking there engines from CAIs. So I'm going to stick to SRI /w heat shield. Easy to install, looks better and no need to remove your front bumper.

What also scares me is that there is hole cutouts in the fender lining of the driver's side front wheel well cover, which sure looks like it will dump a lot of dirt onto the CAI filter area sitting inside there. That can't be a good thing. Also getting any water onto your filter also reduces its breathability, so that kinda wrecks the gains too.

Id go with the SRI /w heat shield. Its easy to install, plus no worries about Hydrolock. SRI all the way!

i dont get why people like the look of the short rams so much.
when you get a CAI, you can tell people your intake goes alllll the way down near the wheel well and theyll be like wow. haha

i have a RMM SRI with its heatshield. I liek it better then the Injen. Seems tha tit woudl block more. Pic below, i covered it in carbon fiber for looks wink
