I was driving on the highway last night and I hit a freaking pot-hole. Look at what this pot-hole did to my car. It literally pulled and ripped my wheel along with the tire. Is there any kind of compensation from the state for damages done to my car due to unsafe roads? This is going to run me at least $300 dollars. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It is your right to be compensated...at least in Calif.

so wait.. cant you just buy some defective rim and blame it on some random pothole and then ask for money .. to buy NEW rims. lol not that i would ever do that.. (not to mention its a complete waste of time) but just wondering.

you have every right to complian, but be perpare to wait. This happen to my bro months ago. They send him a letter with all kind of promise and tell him to go ahead and get the rims fix. Yet months later they send him a letter explain y they can't cover the cost!

damnn..that sucks...but you don't wanna come down here to New Orleans--we have the crappiest roads I've ever driven on..and I doubt the state would pay for any damage done b/c of the over-abundance of these horrible streets. I do know that if there are rough train tracks they'll do something, but I dunno about the roads

The city will eventually pay you, but it takes a VERY long time for them to compensate you for your loss. So you might as well put your stock rims on for a Long while.

I suggest finding the pothole and getting a couple pictures if possible. Send into your local highway department with pics of your damage, along with date and time you suffered your loss. I work in the insurance industry, and can assure that these municipalities have coverage against claims like yours... good luck! ![thumbsup thumbsup](https://celicahobby.com/forums/images/graemlins/celica/thumbsup.gif)

I was going 95 North right after exit 23, on the fast lane. I'm sure you'll see it once you pass by. I don't understand how I didn't see that f***ing thing.

This is what you do:
Document everything. Take photos of the damage. Take photos of the pothole. Buy new rims and photocopy the receipt. Write a letter to the Governor, include all the photos and receipt(s). Do NOT give up easily. Keep writing, and if they say "NO", just keep writing letters until they pay. Make it your mission in life. Good luck. Remember, you are a red blooded American, don't just give in.
