i dont really kno much about brakes. when i got my new tires, the dude said i needed new brakes because soon theyre gonna start wearin down my rotors. when i get new brake pads, do i need the shoes too? or just the pads?

Just the pads! Make sure you got the right size pads though to fit the stock shoes.

they should already come in the box. unless youre talking about the rear brake drum. does that a bit longer to wear out than the front brake pads.
