I was wondering how much Nos you can put in a GTS and what would be the long term effect on the car. I've heard so many different story's about this and I don't know what to belive. Please help and get me out of my misery!!! Realibility is important to me. Thanks in advance guys

NOS NOS NOS NOS NOS...damn...I wish they had never made the fucking fast and the furious. NOS is only a brand. Second, better tear your engine apart and redo the insides of it before putting in nitrous. Otherwise, you'll tear your engine apart. Besides the fact, if you want something with 50 more hp...why the hell did you buy a celica?

By the way I did use the abreviation nos (insted of writing nitrous oxide systeme)!!! Were not all like you, some of us don't know everything. This is why we ask question and we hope that someone will respond in a civilized way. If you have difficulty's to do so, please keep your oppinion to yourself. And, so you know, I want a little bit more power from my celica because I decided so! I love the car but I want to build it so it will corespond to my needs. Thanks for nothing!

HE DOES HAVE A POINT... EVER SINCE F & F PPL ARE ALWAYS CALLING NITOUS OXIDE , NOS, BUT IF I WERE U I WOULD JUST REPLACE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND GET A LIGHTENED FLYWEEL... TRUST ME- THAT WAY U WOULD ALWAYS GET 90 HP TO THE WHEELS AND 65 TO THE CRANK. BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, U WOULD NEED TO BUY A NITROUS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND A NITROUS DIRECT PORT SYSTEM AND A PURGER (I HEARD YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR HEADERS)- ZEX SELLS A PRETTY GOOD KIT FOR 700 FOR LOT OF SHOTS AND ALL THE COMPONENTS.THERE IS ALSO A COMPANY THAT SELLS A REMOTE OPENING NITROUS BOTTLE. BUT I WOULD STILL GET THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND FLYWHEEEL B/C I WOULD ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME HORSEPOWER AND NOT HAVE TO RELOAD.CONTACT YOUR LOCAL SHOP FOR MORE DETAILS...
NOS or nitrious oxide systems is a brand name, N20 is the real name for the publics "NOS". Im not gonna bash on you if you wanna start off by buying NOS. I think personally you could start off a lot better. Buy other enhancements, ex. intake, exhaust, heads you know somethin along that line that will not blow your engine. When you decide to buy n20 just make sure you know what you and your engine are getting into, its good if you drag and ahve the engine, but for normal drivers, go with something safer
Celicaz. I'm thinking about putting NOS into my celica too. I'm probably go w/ wet shot since this guy i know (drag car racer) used wet shot on his car and hell he has his car for 10 + years now. But something you might want to consider is to what degree, 50, 75 , 100. I'm going w/ 50 shot since he said it safer for celica since it a 4 cylinders. And another thing is if a cop pulls you over, and see that you have NOS (if he checks your trunk) then your S.O.L. He said it'll cost around $400 w/ installation (i know his daughter). It might be different where you live. And he also said something about modifying my engine or manifold up a lil. That's pretty much it! hope it help!

I agree with you, "Fast and the Furious" should've never been released but I don't agree with what you said about them having to tear your engine down to install "NOS."
To my knowledge, I know that they don't have to "tear your engine down" to install a N2O setup. Most N2O setup's available for the Celica are simply bolt-on. Of course there is some wiring involved and you need alittle mechanice "know how." From what I understand, to install a 50 shot of N2O on your Celica is simply a matter of mounting the bottle, running the N2O line from the bottle to the engine compartment, then setting up the switches, and the solinoids, then installing the fogger to the intake manifold. It's more difficult than that but you get the idea. For street purposes, you won't have to rebuild your engine's internals just for a little jiggle juice.

NOS (nitrous oxide, N2O, nitrous oxide system) well it's pretty much the same and since NOS is much more common, most people said NOS. So let not get all technical . BTW Fast and Furious is a quality movie. But not let go over board saying because of its that we decided to put NOS and mod out our car. You all know Import Car Show started way before that movie came out. So think twice before criticizing people for copying "FAST and Furious."

Test Drive, I really don't know too. The term I used the most is NOS, these guys up here use N2O. I'm guessing Nitrous (II) Oxide. I didn't do too well in chemistry either

welp...wouldn't be Nitrous (II) Oxide...when writing roman numerals...it would refer to nitrous as having a 2+ (which it doesn't) charge to each atom to balance out and neutralize the molecule. Only the transition metals have are named using this manner
mr. chemistry over here talking about god knows what ...and all shes doin is talkin about makin out with me...im here to learn everybody, not make out with you...proceed
alright everyone. simple answer, lets just use NOS as universal term so everyone will know what we're talkin about. Please don't argue over stupid things. and Ti Chuot, please, Fast and Furious was a terrible movie. Talk about acting thats worse than a porno, and a movie with no story line and it only survived because it had cars in it. I have experience with film, because i take classes. This movie is a failure. At anyrate, don't get NOS, unless you really want to. But if all you want is HP, why get NOS? its only for a really short period of time. There are other engine mods, much safer and raise your performance, permanately.

First off, everybody flaming just put a damn cork in it and get your heads out of your assholes. Sorry but this kind of immature reponses burns me.
Now to answer your question CelicaZ adding a nitrous oxide system is not gearter of a deal than possibly replacing/modifing your intake manifold to add in the system. Most systems i have seen offered by NOS can come with everything needed to perform the mod and usually NOS will have a specific system for each brand of car (i.e. Acura, Celica etc).
Now the long term effects on the engine are going to be resultant of the increse pressures and temperature in the combustion chamber putting higher mechanical stresses on the materials and moving parts (cracked housings, premature failure of pistons, connecting rods). The most common problem i have seen is burning through of piston heads. In fact, my uncle had put a nitrous oxide on his camper to climb the huge hills (low metered doses) for going down in south america from canada and it worked well to 2 years until he made the drive back and found 3 pistons completly burned through out of 6. Had to come back on a flatbed.

well that's your opinion, but i still think Fast and Furious is a quality movie. If you said that movie doesn't have a story line, then you should take all those "film classes" of your again. and for people who decided to get NOS, it just an adrenaline rush. And if you decided to race someone, you're not going to race them for more than 1/4 of a mile anyway. But true to what you said about its being safer.
Life is like a dream...Hopefully when you wake up it isn't like mine.
nitrous isn't as bad as they say it is... it all depends on how often you used it, how big of a shot ur using and if you did some internal upgrades... yes it will have some wear and tear on the car but that's expected, i personally is putting a direct port nos system in my car next week, and im just planning to used a 60 shot... mostly i just wanted it in for show... but it does come in handy when some guy pulls next to you and revs thinking he can take our lil' trick out 4 bangers.. though it doesn't mean ur always gonna win, but it does raise ur chances of burning his ass!!! thats just my 2 cents...
1st NOS does not offer a pre assembled kit for newer celica's AND its not that hard on your engine. NOS recomends for newer stock engines check out holly's site
...TOYOTA System P/N Fuel Injected Application 05122NOS (A,B) 1.6-2.0L up to 1998, EFI (through 1997) 05123NOS (A,B) Tacoma, Celica, truck and 4Runner 2.0-2.4L, EFI 05122NOS (A,B) MR2 and Camry, all non-turbo 05124NOS (A,B) Supra, 2.8-3.0L, non-turbo 05348NOS (A,B) MR2 and Supra turbo (all)
YOU HAVE TO GET A UNIVERSAL KIT
2nd THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS -BLOOOOOWS THE BIG 1
3rdly WET SYSTEMS R MAINLY 4 TURBOCHARGED OR SUPERCHARGED ENGINES I WOULD ONLY INSTALL A DRY SYSTEM ON NEW CELICA'S 4THLY NOS ON A CAMPER AND FARMER BOB BURNT 3 PISTONS LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL CAN YOU SAY D.E.T.O.N.A.T.I.O.N ---------- I KNEW U COULD LOLOLOLO PEACE
To your question. I DO HAVE A NITRO KIT in my celica, of course it`s a VENOM not a NOS. First I ordered a NOS, but they sent me a not car specific one. I find the only company who makes computerized nitrous system is VENOM. So I sold the NOS and bought the VENOM VCN-2000. Why it`s very important to buy this kind a system, cus I`m too lazy to check alwys the pressure. If the pressure is not correct means the air fuel ratio is not correct as well- which means the burning is not ideal, so you are surely blowing your engine. If everything is 100% set you can use a 50HP gain safely. O.course your engine was not designed for that, wear gonna be faster. First thing you ganna blow is the clutch. When we replaced my pistons ( I wanted more than 50HP) found everything right!! in thee engine. I`d nitro my car again, but be 100% sure you know what you`re doing!!! It`s difficult (and costly) to make HP but easy to F..ck the engine.
BW NO2 is nitrox what scuba divers use for deep dives. N2O is dinox what we use for the cars, and doctors (?`laughing-gas`?) `whe they make you sleep`.
All i can say is a wet system is safer for stock engines, theres nothing wrong if he wants NOS in his car, go ahead and give it a shot, if it fucks up the engine then thats it, if not well thats good, hes asking a question about NOS, one more thing about the fast and the furious movie, whats up with that? Jesus! where talkin about NOS here not fast and the furious, please guys, dont argue with nonsense and bullshit plus stop the crappy replies... (we should work together and build our future to the next level)----> peace!

I am gunna hafta say that your input is incorrect...I researches import tuning non stop for 2 years and I will tell you that there are two systems out there, a wet and dry system. Dry system is appropriate for stock engines, not wet. Wet systems are used for engines with forced induction. wet means that the N20 is injected straight into the fuel as it is injected into the cylinders. Stick with dry...it will allow your engine to last longer if proper maintenance is applied also. Oh and Venom is the best out there so far!
ok i dont wanna have to filter through all the retarded replys in here. firstly.. if you have a problem with people referring to nitrous systems as nos. make a new thread and bash on it in there.. not in this guys thread who only wanted an answer to the system itself and not the way to call it.
anyways, to start off.. DO NOT BUY A DRY SYSTEM FOR YOUR CELICA! you MUST use a wet kit. i can't explain why but it has to do with our motors not having a return fuel line. ok next the nitrous kit has everything you need. which is the bottle the lines and the solenoids etc. you might want to buy a purge, to get rid of the old nitrous in the lines and replace it with new nitrous for a harder "hit". you may also want a pressure gauge and bottle heater. if the pressure is too low, nitrous loses its effectiveness and on the other end of the spectrum if the pressure is too high... that would be NOT good to use. the bottle heater just keeps the temprature constant making the pressure just right.. unless its an extremely hot day.. then you wouldn't use it.
other than that there are a few things that would make your nitrous experience much better. get spark plugs which are one step colder to prevent detonation. and to be extra safe you might want a fuel pressure gauge or air/fuel so you can watch fuel pressure. if you start going lean or can't supply enough fuel (considering this is a wet kit) that would be very bad considering. if you don't understand the basic difference between a wet and dry kit.. i suggest you do more research. another thing you might want is a window switch which makes the nitrous come on and turn off at certain rpms because if you hit the rev limiter while spraying... you'll have to kiss your motor good bye.
now as far as how big a shot... if you do a shot say 34-40-50 you'll be very safe.. some people have done 75 with no problems as long as you're careful it will be ok.. but personally i suggest not going over 75 and really think about it before you go with a shot that big. as far as engine life.. it all depends on how much you use it. but know that with all this extra hp, which is all at once and not gradual, the first thing you can expect to replace would be the clutch.
btw.. becareful with how big of a shot you're gonna use because the gts has very high compression. 75 is do_able.. but theres really no point in doing that much of a shot because you'll be fighting for traction.
Thanks a lot every one (even the one that started a very long argument about the expresion NOS). I think that I'm gona go with other modification because I realy want my car to be reliable.

ok lets say, its incorrect BUT hi ho silver is correct with what he said, safer for the Celica, i suggest you get a wet system, Nitrous Express not Nitrous Oxide System, i agree with Steven about NX, theres nothin wrong with having N2O in fact i have one, single fogger, i dont use it a lot though, main pupose for mine is just for show really, but i tried using it racing with rice burner pickups... works alright, just dont abuse it CelicaZ... good luck!
