I'm not fully educated about my GTS yet, since I just got it few months ago. But I just curious as to why no one ever talks about upgrading the stock throttle body to a bigger one? I've done this on almost all my previous cars. Is it that you can't do it on a GTS? Cause I've tried searching and the topic doesn't even come up. What's the deal on Throttle Bodies & our celicas? I'd like to know.

well like most things, nobody makes a bigger throttle body for our car.

Also there isnt much room to make them significantly larger.

There isn't an aftermarket intake manifold either.

pretty much gotta do it yourself or wait fr someone to develop it. thumbsup

ACTUALLY...you can get a throttle body for our cars, its just that it probably won't do much good without a custom intake manifold as well... www.wilsonmanifolds.com [wilsonmanifolds.com] I had a thread about this and was totally shot down cause everyone thought I would need a custom intake manifold to see anything out of it

they make throttle bodies that can be modified to fit but they arent celica specific.

those are just blanks that can be made to fit just about anything lol unless I wasnt lookin in the right place?

but yeah they look really good.

I don't think you'd need a NEW intake manifold. you'd just have to port match the stocker and you should be fine. a new intake manifold wouldnt hurt though.

our cars have a good aftermarket IMO... almost everything you can think of is in production...

only thing that we need is cams... and it might not be too long.

^^ the time will come. be patient. besides I'm sue the TC is easier to make power on lol it's a 2.4 motor with a shit load of room in the engine bay. of course people are gonna make parts for it. also it's a high production vehicle compared to the celica. so the cost/benefit is much better.

if the celica was made in larger numbers per year we'd have better support.

I was personally shocked to see that we don't have much "performance" aftermarket support for our Celicas. This is why I see more people buying an RSX...but then everyone on the street has one. I see about 10x more RSX on the street in one day then I do celicas. I had a Jbody before, and they got almost everything for that thing, so I was like wtf. I know the car is getting axed this year, but so has the prelude, but there is tons of parts for that car. Anyways, I'll never understand it, even Toyota ditched us, not making the TRD Supercharger that fits. thumbsdown

Yeah we have tons of "apperance" support and shit like that. But when it comes to performance support or actual products that a hardcore gearhead is gunna want, the selection is just not there.

we have some very nice things just not all of them. the 2zz is not the easiest motor to work with.
