i'm from belgium and there's a tuningshop that can give you 17 extra hp for only 399 $ why spend 3500 $ for a turbo when you can get a gt with 292 hp for that price instaed of 210-220 hp

here is the site www.chippoint.com [chippoint.com] thumbsup

for one...the Stock ECU will eventually over-ride this programming...and for 2...where the hell are you getting 292 hp???...oh, and BTW...NO AMOUNT of CPU TUNING WILL EVER GIVE YOU A 150 HP increase, and an engine

A 17 horsepower gain, with only a chip, on a tiny 1.8 NA engine?

Because they are competely different.

I don't find it hard to believe that somewhere on their dyno curve it shows 17hp more than stock. The fact that you might get 17hp at one point and only 1hp or 2hp everywhere else is irrelevant to them.

Perhaps it's a new rom: Do you need to send them your ECU for the upgrade?

...
point taken... that makes sense to me... only problem with our ecu is that it resets and overrides any alterations being programmed into it... that is why you see nobody on here with the Apexi SAFC... our computer completely overrides the thing

i have a topic posted about this subject. i asked about the ecu not working. i was told from numerous people that it works on the early 7th gen celicas like '00-'02 but not on later models b/c something on the newer models ecu overrides. thumbsup

^think you are refering to the dbw, all that means is there isnt a stand alone ecu compatable for them yet but all 7th gen ecus act simular when it comes to piggy backs

yea, i think we can all agree that toyota engineers left out 17 extra horsepower just to be asses.

i think we can all also agree that toyota engineers, even though that it is their life and they know the car better than anyone ever could, probably aren't that smart and left out something so that the stock ecu isn't programmed to run to it's maximum efficiency. rolleyes

let me note: there ARE gains to be made by retuning. 17 whp though? near impossible. the ecu is programmed to give the max power VERSUS efficiency (long life of the car). if you are interested in getting power, you CAN get some more, but your car's engine health is reduced.

the toyota engineers are so wrong for not giving us all the horsepower our cars make. its like they sit back at the computers when they are programming the ecu and laugh and say "hey come see what i put for the hosepower" and laugh.
