Alright, I'm down to two cars and the wire here...I need some opinions...I know this is a Celica site but try and give me your overall unbiased opionion If that's possible...The two cars I'm looking at are: 1)New 03 Celica GTS TRD 6 Speed with every available dealer option and a dealer tint (It's Carbon Blue)...or a brand new 2002 Mustang GT 5 speed...I know you all know about what comes in the GTS so I'm only going to somewhat explain what comes in the Mustang and hear what you have to say...The mustang Is a New Black on Black GT Coupe with a 5 speed tranny, fully loaded with black leather sport seats and all power group options...For those that don't know, the Stang comes with 260 hp and 305%%% stock. I'm adding a factory Brushed aluminum Interior kit to the car which looks really nice on the black. It basically outlines everything in the front of the car and dash in Brushed aluminum...I'm also adding a factory installed Aluminum scuff plate kit for the door sills which have the pony emblum engraved in them. The Mustang will also be tinted by the dealer and I'm getting a Bullitt GT Shifter installed to go along with the aluminum look. The car comes standard with a nice sounding dual exhaust but I'm able to upgrade the exhaust system and filter with aftermarket parts which is included in the budget...that will bring the approx. Hp total to just under 300. Last but not least the Mustang is equipped with a very powerful kickass factory soundsystem called the Mach 1000...my local car audio store told me that he could give me 3 times the system for the same price as this factory option one all hidden customely, so I'm looking at omitting the Mach 1000 option and taking the money saved to get that aftermarket system...You all probably know that the TRD comes with a Panasonic system from the dealer but It hardly stacks up to the one that the mustang has to offer...hearing all that and knowing that I'm a huge domestic guy you're probably thinking the answer to which car I buy is a no brainer, well let me tell you It's not, It gets extremely complicated and I've already written you a novel...Knowing all I've written, let me know what you think I should get, actually, let me know what YOU would get If you were given this exact choice? Thanks for reading my post, please help me out a bit because I'm really stuck here...

if you have enough money for the mustang with all those little factory goodies, i suggest you get the celica, and if the sound is not enough for u, or the engine is not powerfull enough for you, you will have lots of money left over for aftermarket upgrades for that celica

Rustang... Found On Road Dead... Driver Returns On Foot... etc...
They're all true. I very much enjoy domestic cars, but I will NEVER, EVER own a Ford car/truck because of all the problems that occur with them. Go the Celica all the way, it's much more reliable, faster and you're gas milage isn't even comparable (400 miles a tank vs 250). Oh yeah... 5 spd vs a 6 sod. c'mon.

I do like the looks of the mustang, but I'd choose a celi over a mustang anyday [ 12-29-2002, 02:25 AM: Message edited by: CelicaPrincess ]

ok, well read this, because it will actually help.
My sister drives a new Mustang GT. The day she got it, i sat it in a played around. A fun car if you just want to drive around, but the car has so many problems already. The trim and rubber seal around all the doors is the first thing Ford has to repair. That will come off in about 2 months of when you got it. Depending on how tall you are, the Mustang actually feels more crammed than my celica. and you need long arms to read that freakin shifter. I got a remote for her radio because when she is driving she has to shift her whole body to change the station. Overall, fast as shit, but not worth it unless you get a cobra or saleen.
The celica...i am getting rid of mine, i am looking at the Z or maybe the step down with i know its a honda, but the S2000. Maybe check those out, my friend has a Z and it is unbelievable.

i am in the same boat as the person above, i got the celica and my 22 yr.old siter got the mustang sitting comfortable you cant reach anything, the celica dash is pretty much built around u. but they both have bad blind spots and cramped back seats. the choice should be determined by ur personal prefrence. if you like big, loud, powerful muscule cars with nice but few mod options go with the mustang, but if you like small sporty, great gas milage cars with tons of optoins including a factory installed action pack that looks great, go with the celica. i like both go with ur gut feelings

To be fair, I'd test drive both and then decide. Asking on a Celica forum, you know what answer you'll hear.

I dunno man, those are two totally diff. cars. Just look at it this way: The celica gets better gas mileage, has a better resale value, lasts longer, is prob. cheaper on insurance, and has more aftermarket parts available for it than does the mustang. On the other hand, the mustang has more horsepower, more torque, but, is heavier on gas, more on insurance, and the resale is not quite as high on a mustang as it is on a celica. Also, if you're going to get the stang, you might want to wait until the new one drops this fall.

well ive driven them both and i can tell you celica is better in almost any way. more reliable, smoother, even more comfortable. first i dislike about the mustang is the seating. when i sat it in, it felt weird. i duno why. window was high off my hand, shifter is tall and gay. ive driven a cobra 00 and i could tell you that shit is fast, but the big fast engine is in a coke can. thats how it feels. i remember i shift quick on high rpm and all i feel is the car swirving left and right for a quick second. not complete control of the car. when i look at it, it looks like a piece of can shit. celica has nicer look, more reliable, better handling, and everything above. ford mustang is only good IMO if someone really likes the look and doesnt care about anything else. im not saying its slow or anything but

I've driven a Mustang before, and I actually thought it was a nice car. That being said, it's not very sporty. It handles like my mom's Lincoln Mark VIII, which is to say it doesn't handle at all. If you're just going to be drag racing all the time it's great, but it isn't nearly as fun to drive as a Celica. I'm also not much of a fan when it comes to the Mustang's seats. Just not very supportive in the corners.
It's really a matter of personal taste, Celica handling weighed against V8 power. I might offer the suggestion of a compromise in the way of the WRX, STi, or Evo if you can spare the extra cash. Those cars are as powerful as the 'stang without the handling issues.
BTW, how did you find a "new" 2002? Has it actually never been bought from the lot??
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you

i wont buy ford..i just think ford is 1 of the worst car out there, they have too many engine problem, and after 2-3 years you will have tons of problems of all the ford car, and by the way, i'm a car salesman, and i work for toyota if you need any new car, just send me a pm... don't buy america car man...dun worth it, all i know is, we got a lot of people that bought a ford car, after 1 year, they just trade in their car, and they told me that the car has too many problem on the engine and transmission, that my opinion.!!

if you want straight line power get the ford. unless you like its looks more, which is completely your opinion, the mustang has no better statistics than the celica.

Go with the GTS. Mustang GT is only good in a straight line...GTS = perty good in straight line, very good in corners. Plus it's toyota quality!

Also consider this... on my average drive to work I see at least 10 Mustangs a day. I'm lucky if I see another Celica once a week, and I live in a big city!
You'll get more looks in a Celica... Mustangs are everywhere and nothing "speical" in my opinion.
