Alright, I got in an accident like 2 weeks ago. My car is goin to the shop this monday. Will be in for 8-10 business days. I thought I was getting a rental car but, now they said they cant give me one cause im 17 and I need to be 18 to receive one. What kind of BS is that? The accident was the other persons fault and now there saying I cant get a rental. I hope they dont aspect me to ride the bus to school. And what If my parents didnt have an extra car, wtf would they do then. The point is now im pissed cause I cant even get a rental car, and I pay for my own car. Such BS if I ever seen it. O and actually my parents get a rental car but I cant drive it. And if I did drive in get an accidnet I heard they could sue for a lot. Heres a pic of the accident

try asking for rental costs. that way you can let your parents drive the rental and you can drive theirs. or just keep the money.
I think the whole rental thing is because the rental agency can't let anyone under 18 drive their cars , not the insurance company.

NO rental agency will rent a 17 year old a car. It's just stupid. Maybe you're an ok driver but think about some of your friends. It would be a shit show for their insurance. Most places won't even rent until you're 21. Think about how people treat rental cars, then toss in some immaturity and inexperience driving. Not saying that that's YOU because I'm sure it's not. But that is the vast majority.

i had the same problem, here's how geico handled it. they issued the rental car to my parents since they were in the household and were covered as secondary drivers on the policy. i in turn had to use my parents vehicle until the repairs were complete.

Yeah its because Rental Car Companies have a minimum age requirement. But its all your bodyshops fault. Alot of them have there own courtesy cars, they should have given you one, despite of your age. As long as you have a drivers license, it should be fine. You should have gone to another shop that would have been willing to give you a courtesy car of there own. They set your own policy, and if they value your business, then they'll do it regardless of what there own requirements are.
