how you guys like this car?
http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/

imo, it's sweet for a chevy
i mean, the rear looks really good being like a mini vette, the interior is also realy nice on the coupe

and comes with supercharger being 205 hp
i plan on test driving one just to check it out, currently we have all four door cobalts in stock, but my dad said he told them to order the coupe in that victory red with spoiler

i think it's a great car to have around that price range...i don't normally like chevy, only the vette and their trucks, but this little car is pretty neat.
i just think they got a nice design to them.

They aren't bad looking for a boosted econo-box, I like it much more than the Evo or SRT-4 in terms of design. I think the quality is better than the SRT, too.

quality is a lot better than SRT and looks tons better than that piece
it's a good car, competes with tC imo and has around the same price range when decked out

It doesn't live up to the SS badge. Then again, Chevy hasn't made the last few vehicles worthy of the SS badge. The supercharger is a lame excuse for what should really be a RWD supercharged coupe.

Its the same car as the Saturn Ion. I guess its OK. My least favorite feature is the center-mounted instruments. I dunno, I've had a few GM vehicles in my time, and don't plan on getting any more.

^^ i can't stand center mounted gauges either...like the mini cooper. its something different but theres a reason why most gauges are mounted right in front of you. never bought gm, don't plan on it...unless its on the expensive side as with a caddie or the new vettes tasty (the gauges for these aren't in the middle though?)

i do like the car though...it looks pretty good and it has reasonable power. weight savings could be in order though, its on the heavy side of economy coupes (and yes, the celica is an economy coupe as well. it's not a sports car and i don't care to hear it).

So I guess what they're doing is introducing the Cobalt and changing the Ion into a Cobalt knockoff. Probably a good move for the Ion; it had a lot of problems.

The interior is nice, they did a great job there. The Cobalt SS is the only one that catches my attention. I read it does 14.7 stock. Its way nicer then the ION Redline, that's for sure. Its one of those cars that if your considering buying, its probably best to get one that's 1-2 yrs used, as it will probably depreciate real fast just like the SRT-4, so buying it new is not a good deal at the current price.

The only problem is that this is the next cavalier, so they'll be millions of them on the road, in rental car fleets etc, all over the place. So your not going to be owning anything special. But at least the SS version stands out.

I like it. My 96 Cavalier ran perfect for the few years I had it. Sold that to get the Celica.

I like that commercial too. The Cobalt bumping the Vette, then the Vette get's pissed off. That's some funny shit.

Almost as good as OUR old commercial, ("Slow Down!!! Punks") Or the damn dog running into the back of the Celi. I still got that on tape somewhere.

thank you.

american car companies are catching up, like it or not (i personally like it).

and american 4-cylinder engines are barely behind the reliability of japanese 4-cylinder engines...so i dont wanna hear all kinds of crap about it. when you start comparing the problems of the MANY american v-8 engines to the MANY 4-cylinder japanese options..of course the figures are gonna be obscured in favor of the smaller engines.

I just found out that the Cobalt SS was fully reviewed and tested in the July 2004 issue of Sport Compact Car. So if anyone is interested in this car, you might wanna have a read through that.

With its 2.0L Ecotec Supercharged, 210-hp engine... it managed a 0-60 time of 6.3secs & 14.9 1/4 mile.

After reading up more on this car, it does seem like a very capable car and will have huge aftermarket support. Chevy has already prepped up 3 of them for racing even before it hits showrooms!

that's weird... all the people i've talked to that have had cavaliers loved them cause they didn't have problems... most of them when they get rid of their cavalier they go get another one... so it might've just been your car... i haven't had any problems with my celica yet either but it only has like 30,000 miles on it.. so we'll see.. haha.. plus i only drive it on good roads in nice weather so that helps...

silver00gts, every car lineup has a lemon in it, even BMWs & MBENZ. Sorry to hear you had so much problems on it. Did you own it since new, cause it could have been abused by the previous owner and you've inherited the problems.

I had '01 Sunfire GT before and I was in a Jbody club, hung around Cavalier/Sunfire owners all the time, did a lot of work on them, upgrades etc. Almost all of us (that actually cared and were enthusiasts about our cars) never had any major problems with them. People who did were usually owners of cars that were abused, ex-rentals, beaton cars. So I have to vouch for there reliability, especially the ones that had the 2.4L DOHC engines in them (Z24 & GTs).

The only downside to having a Cavalier/Sunfire is the immense hatred from Import Drivers! They'll bash your car all day long and think of it as a POS, it just doesn't get any respect. But if you can rise above that, its a fun car to own and modify.

i read up on it and the motor can be easily supercharged to 270 and 0-60 times of high 5's
i'll be able to determind how the quality/ride is after i drive one.

if celica's and civic's could have babies, it would be a cobalt SS, check out the body styling, civic front, celica back, but chevy can't match the japanese reliability and strong resale values...but the chevy has some more hp... anyone know how much that thing weighs?

i was about to say the same thing. i can stretch my imagination for the civic front...but i don't see celica anywhere on the rear.

and lets be honest with ourselves people..the celica is basically a snap-on car. i can practically take my car apart with a flathead screwdriver spineyes

Haha. What a great point. Read the racing thread, no one races in the twisteies. Just straight line dukeouts. That said, go get the cavalier's big bro, the Vette. It will kill on the blacktop, and the turns too.
