So Toyota fixed my syncro's last summer. I lost sixth gear, & took it to another dealer to have it fixed under warranty. THe problem was an installation thing, so I had to take it back to the original dealer. So the second dealer charged me $500, that I was told I could get back from the first dealer. So I take them my car, and they dont agree to pay the $500. They then call me today, and tell me my car was broken into over the weekend.
My question is 1) are they responsible for the $500 and 2) Are they responsible for the break in????

If it's under warranty I don't see why they should charge you $500. They ripped you off. I'd take it into legal action.

my advice would be to get in touch with a lawyer. any advice here wouldn't neccesarily be from a professional so it might not be as good. explain all this to a lawyer and show him all the paper work and he should be able to help ya out. I'm glad my dad has a lawyer, he kind of a go to guy but he charges $250 an hour, but he has yet to lose a case for us, the guy is brilliant.

I'd get in touch with Toyota corporate, and also consider small claims. Most likely insurance will have to cover the break-in. What got stolen/damaged?

Toyota should cover because of the warrenty. Ya, as far as the break-in, insurance is going to have to handle that probably. What was stolen?

As for the warranty, because a replaced part didn't fail, the dealer in Saginaw couldn't cover it. They made me go to the original dealer, since it was a installation problem... and not covered under the warranty. I am already planning the lawyer route, since I really have no choice there. I got to the Toyota dealer where my car is currently at, and they took everything. The DVD Screen, The DVD Player, my CD player, my amp, and all the wiring. They tried to take the subs, but they gave up for some reason. Toyota doesn't want to pay my deductible, so we will see there...

man they can be so lame sometimes, they should hav security for that shit. I remember that the same thing happended to another member here, but his dvd player was under the passenger seat. the only way to remove it was to take out the seat, so they could find the DVD player(or amp). so he suspected that it was an inside job by one the mechanics. because all his audio/video stuff was missing but the seat was bolted down. I highly doubt that the theives would unbolt then rebolt the seat back.

Hearing that story , made me feel a little better about my situation though, so thanks.
