I have just purchased new tires for my car. I put on 205/50/15 to replace stock 195/65(60?)/15s. With my wife driving her minivan in front of me, it appears that I have lost 10% speed. I now have to go 120 to do 110. I love the tires and don't want to part with them! I can easily do the math in my head while driving, or I could set up a gps on my dash. But I would like to know how to recalibrate my speedo?? Any ideas?? There must be a way. I don't want to go with bigger rims this time. Thank you all in advance. Keep in touch! Stuart

the way i could think of is the same way you recalibrate after painting your needles and that while being paced put in the needles at the correct speed. its too risky i think to do that, you might as well just leave it how it is. its possible to screw it up even more.

You can get you speedo recalibrated. Mine was reading in kmh when i got it from japan. I brought it to a guy who apesialises in recalibration and corrected it to read mph. Be very careful, do not get a cowboy to do this or he could permanantly fuck up your gauge cluster. Cost me E50.

hard to imagine you're showing a 10% difference. it should only be around a 3-4% difference.
also you're not losing speed lol the gauges are just telling you are faster then you think. I personally would leave it be. unless you find someone you trust to do the work.

I did not go from 50 to 65. The other way around 65 to 50. First set of low-pro's. Dealer said they cant do it but you know dealers!?!? So far I have been able to deal with it. did 120 all the way home tonight. I was hoping for a computer /ecu quick fix.

my bad lol you should just get new rims, those must look really tiny you want to keep the wheel/tire ratio in balance with what stock was like.

The wheels do look a little smaller, more room in the tire-well. But it it something new to look at. There are so many types of rims out there I would not know where to start.
