hey...kind of concerned...sometimes if i take off and get around 5000 rpm i get like a kickback when in between shifts...i think its like my gears shifting real hard not sure any insight?

not exactly sure what you mean, but if it does this when ur just driving normally then there something wrong and its having trouble getting into gear

oh i know what you mean. when you drive into high rpms, your engine/car sort of jolts, right? but it only happens to me when im in 3rd and redlining it spineyes

but i know what you mean.

its prolly because the gears are not "shifting" at a right time.

no harm really, just wasting gas cruzing on the freeway at 70mph with overdrive off spineyes

use overdrive for anything over 60mph and you will be easier on your engine and ur wallet

I have noticed this since I got my sc. In your profile is shows no performance mods so if your stock performance wise this might be a problem depending on how bad the kickback is. When I got an intake I noticed it too.

it could be just shifting harder due to higher line pressure, the higher you rev, the more pressure there is in the valve body. You should definitely notice it if you rev the motor hard, and have the pedal to the floor. the lighter you are on the gas pedal, the slower and smoother the shifts will be.

If you were to install a shift kit, it would feel like that all the time.

It will also shift harder on very cold days, cooler trannys have firmer shifts, due to the fluid being a bit less viscous at lower temps.

Of course, if it makes you nervous, double-check your tranny fluid levels. your torque convertor may not be locking/unlocking properly if the levels are low. Also, if the fluid is burnt (brownish in color and smells like ass) you should flush and refill the tranny with fresh fluid.

As for OD, just leave it on most of the time, unless towing or driving over steep hills. turning off OD can give you some nice engine braking (deceleration via the drivetrain alone)

Actually, smooth, sloppy shifts create more wear on the autos. firming up the shifts will improve acceleratin, and reduce wear, of course, you also compromise comfort in the process, but that's the price you pay for performance.

is it possible on low temp days dor the tranny fluid to freeze up and maybe lock the auto into a gear?

yeh it happens when i floor it the most...so wht i gathered from ur first paragraph is that this is normal and is not hurting anything...and yes itt has been happenning more now thht is cold...thanks thumbsup
