yes it is functional, it sends cool air around the exhaust manifold if I'm not mistaken. The car doesn't HAVE to have it, but it helps

Pretty much helps the ventilation of the engine and cool it more than usual.

^^^isnt it the Intake manifold? anyways, it does help in cooling the engine. i've driven for hours and never overheated.

^^ Intake is on the front side of the motor. But you knew that zero. right?

yeah its correct i have never had any heat problems ever but its an 02 and it shouldnt right?
