Ok this is kinda a bit of an awkward post, but I just wanted to find out exactly what's the right way to say our cars name "Celica". Cause I call it "Cell-la-Ka" but 1/2 the people I met also call it "Sa-leek-ka"! What the heck is the real way to say it? Wonder how they say it in Japan?

I've always called it Sa-Leek-Ka! Always get annoyed when people call it Cell-la-Ka!

I believe in a lot of the world, going by broadcasts of the JGTC races, its pronounced "Suh-lee-kuh". But to each his own. Here in the south, I say it, and always heard it said, "Sell-ick-uh". Every part of the world has their own pronunciation of car names. Watch WRC broadcasts or Fifth Gear on Speed. Hyundai (Hun-day) becomes "High-un-dye". Jaguar (Jag-wire or Jag-war) becomes "Jag-you-are". Nissan (Nee-sahn) becomes "Niss-uhn". And Z in a car designation is never Z, its Zed. So the Nissan 350Z is the Niss-uhn Three Fifty Zed.

I agree with what everyone else said. In the US most people say "sell-ick-ah" but I remember from when I went to Costa Rica, that in latin american countries its "sel-eek-ah". Tomato tomoto. It doesn't matter really

Probably the "sell - ick - uh" pronunciation is Westernized. I've only ever heard people say it that way though. What does it mean again? Something like "celestial"?

Here's another one I hear two different pronounciation on...what is the proper way to say a Honda Prelude? Prey-lude or Pree-lude?

sell-ick-a.. to me i say it how it's spelled... if it was spelled celeeca... i would say it the other way...

In japan they say "cerica"

Also, The word "Celica" is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial".
