Maybe it's already been answered, but how big of a nitrous shot can I use on a stock GTS motor? I'm thinking 75 max, without getting forged pistons and connecting rods. Anybody have any experience with nitrous? I figure that buying the NX kit with the GenX-2 upgrades is the best bagn for the buck.

Oh, by the way, I was the guy asking about buying either a Prelude or a Celica GTS. I absolutely love the Celica. No regrets. It handles like a dream.

I'm thinking of getting the AEM CAI, AEM Crank Pulley, Hotchkis Swaybars, and the APR Flex Bar. I also wanted to look into getting a Limited Slip Differential, and was wondering if anyone knows anything about Phantom Grip.

I'd hate to put all that workload on one wheel spinning and being called
"peg-leg" during a launch.

You would have to put in low compression pistons. They would take you to 8.5!

75 shot is the highest safely, but most kits that say 75 put out like 55, so your fine. The other parts are good except the AEM crank pulley,dont bother buying it. Phantom grip LSD's are top notch, I know nopi.com has them for pretty cheap. Any more questions?

on the gts i wouldn't do anything over 50 you would be pushing your luck

head gasket can lower compression too

http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com this place has the pistons and other stuff you will need. don't buy the crank pulley since it has been said to f' your engine up.

The 2ZZge is an amazing engine, but it's kinda high strung (high RPM) compared to most in it's class, which is both it's strength and weakness.

Not saying you can't do pulleys (many do) but make an informed decision.

You might want to talk to Denny at over at www.racetested.com [racetested.com] and ask him about a progressive NOS installation. With these kits you can feed the power in in a controlled fashion rather than one big hit - this enables much higher hp to be delivered. Over here in the UK 100+hp can be safe and not uncommon on stock internals.
They also have a thriving forum with some really techy guys who can answer all your NOS queries too.

i have heard that the water pump and alternator pulleys are safe but always stay away from the crank pulleys at all costs

You cannot run a NX 75 shot on stock 2zz internals. Well I mean you can, but it won't be pretty for long. And whoever said you can run 100+hp shots on stock internals can kiss my ass. I'd suggest using a ZEX kit instead. It's got a built in WOT switch and it regulates itself so that if you don't have enough gas, it won't spray a full shot (I've heard some opposition to this, but I've seen it first hand). You will have to buy spark plugs that are two steps colder to avoid detonation. A bottle warmer and purge kit are nice things to have also.

Yes, I would tend to agree, but if you decide to run racing fuel at the track, I'd say it's safe to run a 75 shot for the day, 100+ octane will reduce the risk of detonation, but still, to reduce engine wear I'd only do this every once in a while. 50 shot would be a bit more reliable in the long term.

Good and bad, yes, it's just a conversion kit that turns the factory diff into a limited slip unit, if installed properly, it will las just as long as the factory diff alone. However, having an all-new limited slip replacement is best, they're usually all-forged, and a lot stronger than stock.

However, stock diff are pretty tough as well, for a serious or competitive car, the replacement LSD would be a better option, but for something streetable with some added power, a PG conversion would be adequate.

LSDs - only good for manual transmissions? or are they doable for sportshifts? i've been meaning to ask this for A while now
