ok...most of us are well aware that to get the 1zz to 2 liters you bore it out to where the cylinders are the size of the GTS 2zz bores, and to get a 2zz to 2 liters you stroke it to the stroke of the 1zz...NOW... here is my question...and it is totally, TOTALLY HYPOTHETICAL... on the supras, you can take a 1JZ GTE engine block out of an 89 supra and the HEAD from the legendary 2jz-GTE will fit and mate to it...some people have done this and call it the 1.5jz GTE...it is like a 40 hp gain or something like that...could one potentially do this with a 1zz...I'm not sure of the bolting pattern as I have never taken the head off, and yes I know that the lift cam would be no good for the 1zz and the valves are to big, and blah blah blah...but if you bore it to 2 liters (boring the 1zz to the same size as the 2zz)... would the head of the 2zz fit on the 1zz??? I was reading some of the supra forums and thought it would be crazy for discussion...post away

I'm certain this has been discussed before. A 2zz head will not work on a 1zz. The its not the bore of the cylinders that make them incompatible either. It's the other details. Trials 3zz is a 2zz block and cylinder head using a 1zz crankshaft with custom pistons and rods to get a longer stroke with the same bore.

yeah I know...it was just a hypothetical...I was just wondering if the bolt pattern matched on the heads...
