After having absolute ZERO problems with the MTEC lighting installed to my celica since end of 2003... And writing all the positive personal reviews of MTEC - Plus after selling over 4,000 sets of MTEC with very few issues being reported...

For those few persons who still believe that MTEC isn't right for them, I decided to add another line of lighting to the store - PLUS program the options into the store where you could choose the lighting you want for your car... "YOUR-CHOICE LIGHTING PACKAGE" wave

NOKYA Arctic White Low Beams and NOKYA Super Yellow Fog Lights have been added!

https://celicahobby.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=224

To get things off to a good start, I had to take some photos of the Nokya lighting...

Link to the Gallery of those photos...
https://celicahobby.com/gal3/inst_nokya

These are the Low Beams - Notice that the Fog lights are still on wave

STFU asshole, your wiring shorted out because of YOUR install. Why dont you go buy some silvertstars for 20 bucks for a bulb. I think you can take a chance on NOKYAs for the price offered. Besides NOKYA has been around since 1998 if you dont believe me check out their site http://www.spwindustries.com/nokya/halogens.php .

Real HID bulbs comes in 3 kinds:

1) D2R - "R" stands for reflector. These bulbs have built-in shields and are designed for reflector housing.

2) D2S - "S" stands for shield. These bulbs don't have built-in shields and are designed for projector housing with shields.

3) Rebased bulbs - These are essentially D2S/D2R bulbs with modified bases to fit OEM housing. For example, to fit a 2000+ Celica, you would need the H7 rebased bulbs.

Keep in mind, even with the rebased bulbs, you would still need to modify your spacer or use piano wires to hold the bulbs in place.

I have a HID kit from an Infinity G35 with D2R bulbs. I was able to use the stock clip to hold the bulbs in place. The D2R/D2S bulbs are similar to H7 in size. So, all three bulb types will fit our projectors. I installed Mcculloch HID kit (with rebased bulbs) on Renee's car. And I have D2R on mine.

I have tried a lot of different brands of "HID" bulbs before going with the reall thing. MTEC is by far the brightest. Nokya is the prettiest (in terms of color). And I had PIAA Ion Yellow fogs for a long time.

One problem -- an HID bulb has a totally different light pattern than a halogen bulb, even when the bases are the same.

Think about it, the shape of a filament is going to be pretty different than a arc of ignited gas between two electrodes.

If you've got projectors or housings designed to match a halogen bulb, it won't produce a correct beam pattern with an HID bulb.

He is asking if the bulbs would fit our OEM housing. And the answer is yes. Of course, putting a bulb that's not designed for the housing will require modification and the result will not be perfect.

Yes. But, obviously, you would need to buy the complete kit which includes ballast (ignitor if it is not integrated with the ballast) and wire harness.

DID YOU REMOVE YOUR HEADLIGHTS WEN INSTALLING THE BULBS, IF YOU DIDNT THEN EVENTUALLY YOU DID IT WRONG. THE BEST WAY TO INSTALL A BULB IS BY REMOVING THE HEADLIGHT.

removing the headlight assembly is not necessary - but it is necessary on high performance bulbs that you not touch the glass with your fingures or any dirt from your engine bay

Had a set of Nokyas but really didnt like them. Visibilty went down a lot too. The bulbs for the low beams are so big, the projector cant possible focus the beam correctly. Everytime I'm on the interstate, I hate passing semi-truck. Its like the headlight has a little spot lot of its own. When the bulbs are in, theres a small little section that reflects from the projector and gets project directly into a semi's side view mirror, its annoying too. When the car is parked and its misty, hazy, or foggy out and the lights are on, there's like a ray of light that comes from the very corner of the projector and goes up and away from the car( rh to the right lh to the left) sitting from the driver seat.

And yes the bulbs were installed correctly.

I always like the yellow fogs because it is difficult to match the fogs to lowbeam (color wise). And yellow fogs make the car stand out a bit. thumbsup
